Publisher Description

Emily Bronte's gothic love story of the undying love between Cathy and Heathcliff set against the backdrop of the Yorkshire Moors. Few would like to have either as a best friend perhaps, but most would wish to be loved as they loved one another. I cannot live without my life; I cannot die without my soul, is one of the many unforgettable lines of this timeless story. The narrator is an author in her own right and painted the watercolour for the front cover of this edition.

"I can see why this is considered a classic. Everyone who reads this book will potentially see a different theme. For me, it's that love is stronger than hate...which is a widely accepted and logical interpretation. I also saw the underlying theme of "history doesn't have to repeat itself." The story of thwarted love in the older generation of characters doesn't get repeated in the same brutal way with the younger generation."

" The only book of my A level English Literature course that I truly remember enjoying. What a blast. Primal, visceral, epic. Did Bronte actually know what she was writing? Like, how big it was? Properly inspirational and beautifully mad. "

" I'm sorry but I hated this book, wrote a essay on the whole book for A Levels even though i barely finished the first chapter. A typical old fashioned romantic story that is very predictable. "

" While I enjoyed the writing style of the book, the characters were overly dramatic and disruptive. The tale was somewhat stressful as well. I enjoyed the writing style, however I did not enjoy the story. Perhaps I'm being ludicrous but I could easily compare it to the Twilight of the classics. "

" I was initially expecting a tedious story devoted to detailed descriptions of curtains and linen, but what I found was an extraordinarily dark and brooding story of sickness and the deterioration of the human spirit. There are many modern novels about "toxic relationships," but the astute reader can avoid them all and simply read Wuthering Heights. No more need be said on the subject. "

" Enjoyed this book, though it took a bit for me to get a clear picture of the setting and relationship between characters. I got about a third of the way through and then restarted...then it clicked. "

" Read it because it's a classic and there are so many references in reading and life to heathcliff. It was so dark and I found heathcliff too over the top, even for a bronte novel. But I enjoyed how it all ended "

" The despicable characters made me almost dislike this book until the final few chapters. The passion is disguised as cruelty as the love affair unwinds in tragic events upon more tragedies! As much as I hate the characters I equally love the book... "

" Powerful story, although somewhat less in the second halve. Passions (love and revenge) are all around. Theme's: civilization and nature (or instinct), romantic elements of storm, parcs, moors, ghosts and dreams. Dark atmosphere until the end, then the sun bursts throughs the clouds. "
