"Normally I don't go for books of this genre but i decided to pick it up out of curiosity after seeing it on the shelves of Borders for so long.Needless to say i was pleasantly suprised. The main character Col starts out ignorant of the warped world he lives in where the upper class(upper decks) are the haves and the filthies/menials are the have nots. The filthies are pretty much slaves and forced to become menials: mindless working slaves. He meets Riff, a filthy girl who shows him that filthies are not savage animals but people just like him. It was interesting to watch Col grow and learn more about the lies of world around him. Also Riff makes for a strong female lead. I am also impressed that Col's sister Gillabeth shows strong character for an upper deck girl. Good thing there is a sequel because i definitely want to find out what happens next. Worldshaker introduced to interesting world of steam punk to me and I am glad i picked up this book."

" I love this book! From page 1, I was hooked! The book really moves along. It has a great plot. It's steampunk, so of course I like it. The author doesn't use a bunch of frilly language, like many of the books I've read lately. There is always something happening, and I couldn't put it down. I also like that it shows how class relationships were in the Victorian era. I can't wait to read 'Liberator'. "

" I personally would give it 1/2 star less ; a bit predictable and sure not subtle...but it draws you in but I thought it would really appeal to the target audience. Definitely a good alternative for Rick Riordan fans. "

" I love the main duo (Col & Riff), their unique personalities and their interactions. I somehow picture Col as Sam from the TV series, Supernatural. "

" It was an easy read that was fast paced. I liked the concept, but the book ended too soon. Like many authors today Harland intends to get a series out of an idea rather than telling a good story with a good ending. "
