"When a Seattle Police Officer is found murdered in his home, together with his wife and children, a task force is set up to investigate. Although Detective J. P. "Beau" Beaumont and his partner are initially put on the case, they are included only periphally in the investigation. However, as it begins to appear that police officers may have played a part in the murders, Beau is very much involved in the search for the perpetrators. Another great J. P. Beaumont novel!" — Donna (4 out of 5 stars)

" This was easily one of my favorite if not the favorite of the Beaumont series thus far (#10). It started out fast and had me interested from the start. It was sad and humorous in the way that only JP can be as he works to uncover the killer of an Officer and his entire family. Touching and engrossing. A great read! "
" Another good detective story. Getting to like JP Beaumont "
" J.P. Beaumont, like Stephanie Plum, feels like a friend. I always enjoy taking a day to help JP solve another mystery. "
" A fellow police office and his family have all been murdered and it seems that a rogue policeman may be behind it. One of the better Beaumont books, the tension and suspense seemed more real to me. "
" Good detective story. Beau is a great character. "
" Fast-paced and lots of action--good audio book for a long drive. "
" This was a fairly good book. I first found this author by listening to one of her books on tape. This one was part of a series, but worked fine as a stand alone as well. "
" latest re-read 6/3/11 "
" This was a great, fast paced, book. I listened to it as I walked, nearly missing a turn and hating for my walks to come to an end. "
" Dirty cops, gangs, and a road to a brighter future. Poor old J.P. just beginning to realize he isn't as young as he used to be. "
" So so. Liked the setting, as I'm from AZ. "
" Another good one from this dependable author! "
" Ah ha, so that's how Ron got to I.I. "
" I really like all of Jance books. They are easy to read and I don't want to put them down. The ending is usually a surprise. "
" Very fast read. It was exciting and flowed well and I couldn't put it down! "
" A killer murders an entire family in their home, but the 5 year old son was hiding in the closet. He is alive and saw too much. "
" A very engrossing read - typical J.P. Beaumont mystery by J. A. Jance. "
" This is a good police procedural/mystery. It had drama, intrigue, suspense and plenty of action, when dealing with police corruption. A good read for three days. "
" A good JP Beaumont! "
" This was probably the best Jance I've read. Very exciting and difficult to put down; easy to read. "
" Terrific from first word to last. "
" If you want a murder mystery where the least likely person turns out to be the killer, this is it. I like all the sub-plots and possibilities Judith pursues. She writes well, but I especially like her JP Beaumont character because it is set in Seattle. "
" Giving "Serve and Protect" New Meaning "
" Good book. Entertaining and really makes you want to stay up late to keep reading! I really enjoy this series! "
