Tessa Von Hellengaard is a real witch. Magical spells aside, she's snarky and selfish, and the other witches in her silent spell coven are fed up with her. Their plan to reform Tessa involves taking away her magic, saddling her with 100 extra pounds, and sending her to a weight loss spa.

For good measure they call in Liam Kennedy, a charming and sexy fairy godfather, to teach her some manners. Desperate to regain her magic and determined to shed the weight, Tessa soon realizes that protecting her heart from Liam will prove to be her greatest challenge.

" Witch Weigh is a short novella that starts out with Contessa (aka "Tessa). She's pretty stuck up and is constantly getting into trouble. She uses magic to do things she shouldn't, abuses other people with it, and the Upper Hallows Witch Council is tired of it. So they sentence her to basically "therapy" so that she can get herself under control. The good part? Her therapy is with hot and hunky Liam, her Fairy Godfather. The bad part? It's at a weight loss resort. The story seemed a little childish at first with how Tessa acts and is portrayed, but as the story progresses it picks up, has some great humor in it (it's a romantic comedy of course!), and eventually you see the romance there. I think the story also has a great lesson to be learned in it as well. I'll leave that for you to decide though. I know this is a novella, but I had wished it was a little longer so we could get deeper into the relationship between Tessa and Liam. All in all it was a cute story. I give it 3 stars. "

" Witch Weigh is a delightfully funny twist on paranormal romance. Tessa is a witch with some serious attitude and it is no wonder that she needs a serious kick in her derriere. Enter the witch's council, with a no way out option for her - get help via a fairy, or no powers. Mickelson crafts a powerful female character in Tessa, and yet she allows her character to grow, which is something not everyone does. The lessons Tessa must learn are hard, but once she sees the light ahead she knows she can be a better person, and then a better witch. Once I opened this book, I did not close it until the very end, a one-sitting read. The plot is so well crafted that you easily get lost in it. My only complaint, I wanted more. There were aspects that I just wanted more insight into, but that is my issue not the author's. Now added to my Top 13 of 2013. "
