" Possibly my favorite of Paretsky's so far. She seems to be at her best with the short story. "
-

" This is a set of short stories all featuring the PI V.I. Warshawski - a lot of fun to read and very well written. "
-

-

Jessica | 1/23/2014
" I sometimes read series novels. VI Warshawski novels are series novels I do follow. VI is an interesting character and always managing to get herself entangled in more than she expects. "
-

" Great book for travel as it's a collection of short stories "
-

Patty | 11/26/2013
" Read on the plane. Good stories about V. I. Warshawski, private detective in Chicago. Stories are good for traveling. "
-

" Mystery,Second City, short stories by some really good authors...well worth the time. "
-

Mailmanr5 | 6/24/2013
" Ddn't care for these short stories. There's not enough time to solve a murder properly in a short format. akes the enjoyment out of it. "
-

Karen | 6/6/2013
" A collection of short stories -- each very good, but I prefer her full novels "
-

Jill | 12/13/2012
" This book was all right. It's a collection of short stories. I prefer longer stories, but it kept me entertained. I thought it was better than "Fire Sale," but not as good as "Blacklist." "
-

Victor J. | 5/10/2012
" A collection of short stories from the veteran author. Mostly enjoyable. To my surprise, one of them was lesbian themed. I find her novels are sometimes longwinded, so the brevity added to my enjoyment here. "
-

Phyllis | 9/10/2011
" Picked this up at the Illinois Library Association. The author Libby Fischer Hellmann was there to sign my book. Plan on reading it on the train back home. "
-

Frodo | 8/14/2011
" I've enjoyed reading books by Sara Paretsky as she was originally from Lawrence,Kansas. Her writing is usually set in the Chicago area which I'm somewhat familiar with since spending seminary days there. These WINDY CITY BLUES short stories are fun mysteries to read. They read very quickly. "
-

Linda | 6/22/2009
" I like all the Paretsky/Warshawski books except the last one. It wasn't quite up to par. "
-

Daphne | 6/28/2008
" Some segments "cases" of this book were interesting - others were not (to me). I found it entertaining and altho' some of the characters really came to life - others just kind of fell short. "
-

Pam | 10/29/2007
" Better than Total Recall. Her short stories are crisper and enjoyable. "
-

Roberta | 9/12/2007
" I enjoyed many of the short stories. Some of them were a bit dull. "
-

Landismom | 10/19/2005
" Collection of short stories about V.I. Warshawski. Uneven, but mostly good. "
-

Janet | 9/25/2005
" This book was OK. It was typical Sara Paretsky. I guess I am not a big fan of short stories. If you have kids at home that are needy, this is a great book. The stories are mostly 40 pages long. This is not enough time to develop a plot, so the stories are short quick with little plot. "
-

Amber | 2/27/2004
" Possibly the least disappointing collection of short stories ever. Styles vary greatly, and even subject matter. However, consistently compelling writing makes this collection impressive. "
-

Jana Giger | 1/3/2001
" A collection of well-written short stories involving crime stories and the blues, all taking place in Chicago. Especially good for short attention spans. "
