Return once more to a galaxy far, far away with this sublime retelling of George Lucas’s epic Star Wars in the style of the immortal Bard of Avon. The saga of a wise (Jedi) knight and an evil (Sith) lord, of a beautiful princess held captive and a young hero coming of age, Star Wars abounds with all the valor and villainy of Shakespeare’s greatest plays. ’Tis a tale told by fretful droids, full of faithful Wookiees and fearsome Stormtroopers, signifying...pretty much everything.

Reimagined in glorious iambic pentameter, William Shakespeare’s Star Wars will astound and edify Rebels and Imperials alike. Zounds! This is the audiobook you’re looking for.

This audiobook is read by Daniel Davis, Jonathan Davis, January LaVoy, Marc Thompson, and the author, Ian Doescher.

Quotes & Awards

  • “The space opera Star Wars performed as if written by the Bard himself? Yea, verily, and it is good. It’s amazing how easily and naturally the Star Wars epic is translated into the Shakespearian tongue and how expertly the full cast, including Daniel Davis, Jonathan Davis, January LaVoy, and others, deliver the work. The characterizations are so spot-on, the delivery so outstanding that the listener quickly accepts the premise. Luke Skywalker works perfectly as a futuristic Hamlet, Obi-Wan echoes Prospero, and Darth Vader makes a compelling Macbeth. The performance is joyful and even musical as the story set in the future uses the beautiful language of the past. The audiobook is also short enough that the listener will not tire of the experiment. Winner of the AudioFile Earphones Award.”

  • “The Bard at his finest, with all the depth of character, insightful soliloquies, and clever wordplay that we’ve come to expect from the master. For those who wish to read the Star Wars legend in the original Elizabethan, this is the book for you.”

Timothy Zahn, # 1 New York Times bestselling author

  • “A jolly good mash-up for readers of every generation.”

    Barnes&Noble.com

  • “If there’s one book perfect for any age, gender, or planet of origin, this must be the book.”

    Ashbury Park Press

  • Doescher’s pseudo-Shakespearean language is absolutely dead-on; this is one of the best-written Shakespeare parodies created for this audience and it is absolutely laugh-out-loud funny for those familiar with both the Bard and Star Wars.”

    School Library Journal

  • A Publishers Weekly bestseller
  • A New York Times bestseller
  • Finalist for the 2014 Audie Award for Best Multivoiced Performance
  • Winner of an AudioFile Earphones Award
