Quotes & Awards

  • “A story that tickles and tantalizes but never exhausts the reader’s patience or ingenuity.”

    Times Literary Supplement (London)

  • “Frankie and Bobby are not nearly so brilliant as amateur detectives usually are in books, but you are sure to like them, and you may even be able to forgive Agatha Christie for leaving out Hercule Poirot just this once.”

    New York Times Book Review

  • “Agatha Christie had one of the most creative minds in mystery fiction. She managed to use up almost all the plots before most of us were born.”

Nevada Barr, New York Times bestselling author, praise for the author

" Odd title for this book, which was also published as "Why Didn't They Ask Evans?" Christie really takes you for a ride with this one. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Susan | 5/26/2011

" One of my favorite Christie novels. A comfort read.

I wonder if Christie wrote this one before the Tommy and Tuppence novels. Frankie and Bobby reminded me of them and I would bet that gave her the idea.

    Fun, quick, refreshing mystery. "

" My favorite of the bright young things books, this book is so impressive in its plotting. The Boomerang Clue (its alternative name) does it credit as well, weaving a wonderful plot that turns back on itself repeatedly. "

" I liked this book. Kind of cute. I would prefer Poirot though. This book was more like a Phyllis Whitney style to me. Not as meaty as a usual Agatha read. "

" A typical Christie book, this time it's a couple amateurs who are set about to find a murderer. I love how the "help" is the one who helps put the pieces together. They do know all the inner workings of the house. I did have a hunch who the killer was, and I was right! "

" I want to be a detective. If these two can do it, I certainly can. I loved listening to the banter of amateur investigators. Let's all be detectives together! "

" I read this book under the title of The Boomerang Clue. It was a good read and I liked the pace of the mystery. "

" A surprising thriller. Unexpected climax. But, there were a few hiccups in the plot. Summing up, it was good. "

" A charming mystery. Without going into the plot, it has that classic Christie characteristic where, at the end, all the facts invert like a Necker cube and you see the events in the book in a completely different light. Superb. "
