" I have to say that these books have been a guilty pleasure of mine from book one. they are very light reading, for the beach or at bedtime. I love the dialog and the animals are very funny. "

" I had a hard time getting into this book. I fugure it's because a didn't start with the first book of the series. Way too many charcaters to keep track of and all the horse talk became tiring. It was an okay read. "

" "Whisker of Evil" is one of the longer & yet better done books in the Rita Mae Brown series. In this entry from 2004, we start with the discovery of Barry Monteith who has been killed apparently by a wild animal & delve much further into paranoia & other things when the cause of death appears to be rabies. The story also deals with a 2nd murder of Mary Pat Reine who disappeared along with her horse 30 years ago. Brown does a very good job with characters both human & animal & keeps this plot moving in a way that shows especially among the humans more fire & drive in them than in any book in the series. We also get a glimpse into the world of horse breeding the extensive records that must be kept in order to do so. Overall one of the better entries in the Mrs. Murphy series that will keep you guessing right up until the very end. "
