The town of Wirrawee is emerging from war, slowly, like a flower after a cold snap. Businesses are starting to reopen, the school has re-commenced classes, and local farmers are gradually repossessing their land. But it's not the same Australia as before the war. A new nation exists just a few miles away, a new border that separates Australia from its invaders. Or does it?

For Ellie Linton, being back on the farm with her parents is what makes the terrible things that happened during the war, the things she and Homer, Lee, Fi, and the others had to do, all worthwhile. It's where she belongs. But the war won't let her go. A devastating tragedy has shattered any hope she ever had to reclaim her life, or herself. It's a new kind of fight. And the enemy isn't always from the other side of the border. Download and start listening now!

" Really really good. A change from the Tomorrow Series, but great follow on from the war. Still with lots of action, also so sad. You felt her frustration at all of the situations she was in. "

" After finishing the Tommorrow series I immediately went and got the Ellie chronicles. Ellie Linton is probably one of the strongest female characters of any age that I have ever read and she quickly became one of my favourite characters. "

" The Elly Chronicles arnt as exciting (not much guns, killing etc...) but once you've fallen in love with a character, you'll read and love anything with them in it... "

" Not anywhere as good at the Tomorrow series - introduces a bunch of new characters to compensate and it doesn't flow as well. It could be that I'm simply not the target demographic anymore, but I've reread the entire Tomorrow series and this doesn't live up t that standard. Easy reading though. "

" This first book in the Ellie chronicles shows us just how hard it is for Ellie and her buddies to return to some form of normality after the war with their families. Then the killings begin and they revert into wartime mode again. Overall a good continuation of this series. "

" This is spin off series of the Tomorrow, When the War Began series. It was a change of pace from the original series and it was nice to read what happened to everyone after the other books were over. It was good, but just not as great as the others. "

I was already so invested this character from the previous series (Tomorrow the War Begins) that I bawled my eyes out at the beginning event of this book. Well, not this time, because I was reading it for the second time. But I did when I first read it. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Reagan | 2/21/2010

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Sara | 2/5/2010

" Ellie's back, and this book starts off with a bang (literally - she's hiking and then hears shots). Good pacing throughout, and Ellie stays true to her character; she's tough, brave, loyal and totally unapologetic about anything she does. "
