Seattle's a great place to live...if it weren't for the undead.

For once, Joanne Walker's not out to save the world. She's come to terms with the host of shamanic powers she's been given, her job as a police detective has been relatively calm, and she's got a love life for the first time in memory. Not bad for a woman who started out the year mostly dead.

But it's Halloween, and the undead have just crashed Joanne's party.

Now, with her mentor Coyote still missing, she has to figure out how to break the spell that has let the ghosts, zombies and even the Wild Hunt come back. Unfortunately, there's no shamanic handbook explaining how to deal with the walking dead. And if they have anything to say about it - which they do - no one's getting out of there alive.

" I had a much more enjoyable experience reading this volume than I did the first one. Most of the material in #2 hasn't been in the TV program so I guess one could be concerned from a spoiler perspective. There's enough variation from the TV series to the graphic novels to keep me from fretting about spoiling upcoming events (but that's me). "

" Joanne Walker has another case where things seem a little freaky, like zombie bugs, squirrels, and of course, humans. Can she and Billy and company solve the problem before Joanne wakes up dead herself? Great read, read it all day and had to finish it. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jenny | 1/18/2011

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Angela | 1/6/2011

" I love this series, and this book was particularly good. Finally Joanne Walker is maturing and starting to accept her new life as a shaman. But she's still Joanne, so expect sarcasm, mule-headedness, and blind ineptitude that somehow all comes out OK in the end. A good read, recommend it to anyone! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jeff | 11/2/2010

" One of the best in this series. Walker is a reluctant heroine, with a cast of interesting characters surrounding her. Interesting mix of mythology in the modern world. "
