Most schoolteachers count the days until summer vacation, but not Gwen. Sure, she loves her job, but it doesn't exactly pay well. So when a student's father asks her to fill in for his nanny for the summer, Gwen should be thrilled. After all, Alexander Romanescu is insanely wealthy, and she adores his daughter, Isabella. And yet... And yet she can't shake the nagging feeling that saying yes to this man could lead to much more than she bargained for. Not to mention that the gig isn't even in Los Angeles - it's at the Romanescu's isolated estate in Transylvania, the land of Dracula and Vlad the Impaler. But creepy bloodsuckers will be the least of her worries if her bank account balance drops any lower. And so Gwen says yes: yes to the job, yes to a European excursion...and yes to a summer that will change her life forever.

" I'm exhausted by all the fighting in this book. And I didn't feel any romantic feelings between the characters. It's not a comedy. And nothing ever happens with the Vlad connection. So that leaves me with...nothing "

" This book has a sequel. I will NOT be reading it. "

" I don't usually use internet abbreviations, but this calls for a sincere WTF? Where did the story line go? I was reading a book, then it segued into a different book, then it just, well, stopped. Ms. Orsoff, couldn't you have at least finished the first story line before you ended the book? "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Isobella | 10/24/2013

" I couldn't finish this book because I really didn't care what happened next to any of the characters. While the writing style is easy to follow, the plot doesn't create any desire to find out what happens next. Makes for a dry romance novel. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Sarah | 9/29/2013

" It was more about custody fights than romance or adventure. "

" I loved this book and found the characters compelling...I would have been disappointed in the ending/epilogue had I not been able to read the next book immediately. I'm not into goth chick lit much but I was able to suspend my disbelief for this one...it was very well done! "

" borrowed this book, and am sure glad I did! this book has a different spin on vampires. I am waiting for the next installment and will reccomend this book to my friends. there were a few hang ups with the storyline, but I believe the author will iron them out in the next installment "

About the Author

Beth Orsoff, a native of New York City, has long sought to return to her primordial roots by refusing to live more than an hour’s drive from the ocean. She spent her formative years working as a lifeguard, thrilled to be paid to work on her tan, until her parents forced her to get a “real” job. And so she headed to law school, conveniently near the beaches of southern California, and launched a career as an entertainment attorney. Today she lives in Los Angeles, dividing her time and energy between writing fiction and drafting Hollywood contracts.
