Sebastian Sherbrook, a self-proclaimed scoundrel and the newly minted Marquess of Manwaring, returns to London after his estranged uncle dies, intent on reforming his rakish image once and for all. Yet through no fault of his own, he’s soon embroiled in the biggest scandal of the Season, and his secret plans to court the only woman he’s ever wanted are in shambles.

Lady Katherine Manwaring knows her poor opinion of her late husband’s nephew isn’t about to change, even if the Times has dubbed him “The Singlemost Beautiful Man In London.” When fate casts Sebastian upon her mercy, however, she learns two shocking truths: he may not be the scoundrel his reputation suggests, and he’s hopelessly in love … with her.

But an irate squire, an even more irate dog, several dawn appointments, meddling friends, and a touch of blackmail aren’t the only things that stand in the way of their happy ending. Can Katherine accept Sebastian’s love—and will he still want her if he learns her own dark secret?

Quotes & Awards

  • “Sue Pitkin narrates this alternately touching and turbulent tale, which begins with mutually unrequited love…Pitkin differentiates cleanly between characters even amid some challenging dialogue. Sideshows, including interfering friends, enthusiastic pets, and an inept dognapping plot, are given proper over-the-top treatment as they collude to teach the would-be lovers to trust each other and admit their feelings. At her best in moments of straightforward narrative, Pitkin delivers madcap descriptions with the infectious relish of a downstairs housemaid who only just witnessed it all.”

About the Author

Maggie Fenton is an avid reader, reviewer and scribbler of romance in between her work as a professional musician. She writes steampunk romance under the pseudonym Margaret Foxe and has enjoyed some success as a self-published author in that genre. She hopes to enjoy much more. The Duke’s Holiday was her first foray into the historical romance genre, one of her personal favorites.

About the Narrator

Sue Pitkin began her performing life as a moonbeam in a British Forces pantomime in Northern Germany, attracted as much by the treat of ginger ale in the dressing room and time off school as by the fun of the performance. These days her performances are mostly limited to audiobooks and her whiskey education program, pursuits which she has found complement each other perfectly.
