  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Steven Slavick | 2/1/2014

" This was a propulsive novel. I'm going to re-read it someday. Sort of like the movie Die Hard. It was more plot driven than character driven, but if you like thrillers, this won't bother you much. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Thomas | 1/26/2014

" Read this years ago when I was about, ooooh 15ish I think. Enjoyed it then enough for me to think of it 7 years later anyway! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Pete | 1/16/2014

" Great action book. It was Die Hard: The Novel, and just as compelling as the movie. This book made me a fan of Mr. Garber and I have added more of his works to my reading list. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Stephanie | 1/14/2014

" I LOVED this book! I actually listened to it on Audiobook. Throughout the whole book, the reader is baffled, but it all ties together at the end. Extremely suspenseful but not scary. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Bill Klanderman | 1/4/2014

" Initially pretty good action adventure, but seemed to break down about 2/3 into the book. The story line got a little weak and disjointed. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Eric | 1/1/2014

" A quick read if you don't mind a lack of characterization and richness in plot. I had this around a 3.5 star rating halfway through the book...however, it never did turn the corner and take it to the level I thought it could've reached. I may be considered picky, but I like good character development and a plot with good context and I found this novel lacking in both. However, I did read just about the entire book so it did enough for me to get through it for the most part. I lost interest in the character and plot 3 quarters of the way through, though. "

" Not the most complex book, but if I had to categorize it, Vertical Run would be one of those summer blockbuster movies. Fast paced action, sometimes over the top action, decent enough characters and a fascinating grabber that keeps you turning the pages. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 David Dalton | 12/21/2013

" Very exciting book. It appears the whole world is out to kill him. What is going on? Action from page one. Where is the movie version? "

" Interesting book. I really liked it, but couldn't escape the feeling that rather than originality, the book was serving up action plots I had already heard, with the author's own spin on them. I honestly kept thinking of John McClane the whole time. "

" Pretty good, fast paced thriller. Reminded me a lot of Die Hard. I kept thinking I had read this before, or seen the movie. Don't skip the epilouge if you read it. Puts an interesting twist on the story... "

" After 125 pages, I just could not get into this book. I know there was a sub plot as to why everyone was after the protagonist but repeatedly going up and down in a highrise with gun shoot outs, hiding and ploys to avoid the government agents got boring to me. "
