Publisher Description

International best-selling author Justin Somper's Vampirates series is renowned for its swashbuckling adventure and imaginative plotting. The fourth book in the series, Black Heart, picks up with twins Connor and Grace Tempest facing an uncertain future.

When a famous pirate captain is killed by a vicious band of vampirates, the Pirate Federation commissions a ship of its own to hunt them down. With Connor on the offending ship and Grace on the other, will both twins make it out alive to continue searching for their mother?

"Connor and Grace face their biggest crisis ever in Black Heart. Connor's new captain has been charged with eradicated the Vampirates while Grace is discovering just how tied she and Connor are to the vampirates. Connor is torn between two worlds and doesn't know why (he chose to leave Sanctuary before his mother could tell him the truth). Grace has never been torn and now she knows why she's always felt at home on the Nocturne. The knowledge and lack thereof drives a wedge between the twins that will undoubtedly come to a head in a future book. Daniel Philpott, who has read the other three books, is comfortable in this world, and makes us feel right at home. Listening to Siddorio fall in love with Vampirate Captain Lady Lola Lockwood was as comical as the juxtoposition with Siddoria and the twins' mother was sad. It's a highly entertaining series."

" Enjoyable, though I'm more inclined with the first one. This one seems to be all over the place since we have introduced even more characters, but it wraps it up and brings it full circle (almost) at the same time. "
