    " Ugh, really didn't enjoy that... "

" I adore this book and it's one of my favourites. And if that makes me a bad person I don't want to be right! "

" The first 100 pages were a little slow and boring, and the last 100 pages were a little thin and tiring, the middle 200 pages were fantastically entertaining. I know that this was a breakthrough work with all sorts of taboos when it was written in the 60s, but now it reads a little like, "Yawn, pre-marital sex and sleeping pills. Big whoop." However, I loved getting caught up in the crazy blossoming world of entertainment--Broadway, movies, television--and even though I'm all jaded about sex and drugs in literature, I'm really glad I'm not addicted to pills. "

" It was a really good book but the way everyones life turned out in the end left me feeling very depressed. "

" I can't help it - I liked it. None of the characters are particularly deep, you don't get any idea what anyone is truly thinking, yet you can't look away from the train wreck of these women making all the wrong decisions repeatedly. Hard to believe that this was written and released in the 1960s, but I guess it goes to show the celebrity machine has been around forever. Good beach read. "

" Such a guilty pleasure, but I absolutely love this book. I bet I've read it eight times in the last ten years. I don't think it's necessarily a great book, but it's got its pincers stuck deep in my soul. "

" Fun reading a book that was written so long ago, and was considered "scandalous" at the time it was published. "

" Published the year I was born - I was allowed to read a well-worn copy some 14 years later. Tame by today's standards, but in 1966 this rocked! Early chick~lit? I wonder how many men have read this book? "

" Definitely a fun read. Remember my mom dismissing it as "trash" back in the 70s - maybe she just didn't want me to get my hands on it. Fun read. But, sad. Realistic portrayal of addiction, from my perspective. And, man, Nelly must have BPD! "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Melissa | 6/16/2012

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Beth | 3/19/2012

" The book we all love to hate! It's like a soap opera of women's novels... And the movie had Susan Tate, what could be better, cult classic in the making! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Loren | 11/20/2011
