Katarina Bishop has worn a lot of labels in her short life: Friend. Niece. Daughter. Thief. But for the last two months, she's simply been known as the girl who ran the crew that robbed the greatest museum in the world. That's why Kat isn't surprised when she's asked to steal the infamous Cleopatra Emerald so it can be returned to its rightful owners. There are only three problems. First, the gem hasn't been seen in public in 30 years. Second, since the fall of the Egyptian empire and the suicide of Cleopatra, no one who holds the emerald keeps it for long - and in Kat's world, history almost always repeats itself. But it's the third problem that makes Kat's crew the most nervous, and that is... the emerald is cursed.

Kat might be in way over her head, but she's not going down without a fight. After all, she has her best friend - the gorgeous Hale - and the rest of her crew with her as they chase the Cleopatra around the globe, dodging curses and realizing that the same tricks and cons her family has used for centuries are useless this time - which means, this time, Katarina Bishop is making up her own rules.

" Maybe this is too YOUNG of a young adult for me. The story was entertaining and the pacing was great. I just kept rolling my eyes at all the times these teenagers passed themselves off in adult positions (security or insurance personnel, for example) for the sake of their heist. When you're an adult reading this book, it's hard to believe anyone would allow a teen to trick them into thinking they were a person of authority no matter how much charisma and confidence they put into the role. I liked the increased romance between Kat and Hale, but at the pace they're going they'll be in their thirties before they ever declare their affection for one another. Still a fun and easy read. "

" Katarina Bishop has all the skills to pull an international heist in the tradition of her thieving family. Now she's being courted to steal the Cleopatra Emerald and return it to the rightful -- or supposedly rightful-- owner. For teens wanting mysteries, adventure, swanky locations. "

" Heist Society was one of my favorite books of the last few years so I was slightly hesitant about the sequel. I didn't need to be. Uncommon Criminals is able to live up to the excellence of the first book. The story is fast paced and the characters are smart and witty. Another excellent book. "
