" Reread every Christmas...never tire of the characters and the story "
" I re-read it every Christmas. "
" Repeat read at Christmas required! "
" one of my favorites of all time "
" I highly recommend reading this classic. It is much better than the tv interpretations. The writing is stupendous and I love that this version of the book gave insight into Dickens style and childhood. "
" I laughed, I cried, I became a Charles Dickens lover! FABULOUS! "
" The story was almost too familiar, so I quit reading it. "
" I will probably end up listening/reading this again.. "
" Thoroughly enjoyed the audio book performed by Sir Patrick Stewart. It's a wonderful holiday read. "
" I feel bad giving the book only three stars because the story itself is worth five. But having grown up on so many filmic versions ("Scrooge" with Albert Finney being my favorite by far), finally reading Dickens's prose just wasn't as fulfilling as I'd hoped. "
" Annual comfort read, but this year treated myself to the Kobo edition on the PC. Still a great book, second only to the film from which it was taken - A Muppets' Christmas Carol. Mr. Dickens stays fairly faithful to the plot. "
" Dickens' style in "A Christmas Carol" resonates of the refinement of "A Tale of Two Cities." I listed to the audiobook, read by Tim Curry. Curry's rendition gave me chills. I good listen around the holidays. "
" Worth the read. Brilliant :) "
" Hands down, absolutely, positively, the most wonderful Christmas story ever written. I read this every year, making sure it is the last book I read before Christmas day. A classic, and one of the best to boot. "
" A pleasant easy familiar post-finals read, but nothing special. "
" Aaaah......... A book to relish. How good overcomes evil and Christmas is the winner. "
Charles Dickens (1812–1870) was born in Landport, Portsmouth, England, the second of eight children in a family continually plagued by debt. A legacy brought release from the nightmare of debtors’ prison and child labor and afforded him a few years of formal schooling. He worked as an attorney’s clerk and newspaper reporter until his early writings brought him the amazing success that was to be his for the remainder of his life. He was the most popular English novelist of the Victorian era, and he remains popular, responsible for some of English literature’s most iconic characters.
