In the city of Atlanta, young women are dying—at the hands of a killer who signs his work with a single, chilling act of mutilation. Leaving behind enough evidence to fuel a frenzied police hunt, this cunning madman is bringing together dozens of lives, crossing the boundaries of wealth and race. And the people who are chasing him must cross those boundaries too. Among them is Michael Ormewood, a veteran detective whose marriage is hanging by a thread—and whose arrogance and explosive temper are threatening his career. And Angie Polaski, a beautiful vice cop who was once Michael’s lover before she became his enemy.
But another player has entered the game: a loser ex-con who has stumbled upon the killer’s trail in the most coincidental of ways—someone who may be the key to breaking the case wide open….

"This was my first Karin Slaughter novel, and wow, what a ride! While the plot is standard whodunit fare, this is definitely not your prototypical murder mystery. I won't spoil it by saying much more, except that Will Trent is a fascinating and unusual protagonist for the genre. Dyslexic and scarred (literally and figuratively) by his foster-home childhood, Will definitely doesn't fit the "hero detective" mold but neither is he a testosterone-fueled anti-hero in the tradition of Vic Mackey (The Shield) or Pete Marino (Kay Scarpetta novels). I can hardly wait to read the next Will Trent mystery!"

Slaughter's gift for building multi-layered tension while deconstructing damaged personalities gives this thriller a nerve-wracking finish.
— USA Today"Excellent.... Karin Slaughter is not afraid to show the absolute worst in people, as well as the best.
— Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel[Karin Slaughter] writes with a razor...Triptych elevates her to the top of my list of favorite crime writers.
— Cleveland Plain Dealer"Volcanic heroes and villians, who act both surprisingly and logically.... Slaughter has the courage to detonate her biggest bombshells early on, keeping even the wariest readers off-balance.
— Kirkus Reviews" ich muss sagen, es ist um einiges besser als gottlos.. auch die charaktere sind spannender... "
— Sue, 2/10/2014" OMG! Slaughter just keeps throwing the tricks at you. This was another one where I was completely flabbergasted at one point. Totally didn't see it coming! I love an author that can continually surprise you. "
— Michelle, 2/8/2014" Enjoyed this start of this mystery series set in Atlanta. "
— Shari, 1/22/2014" Thiller with lots of twists and turns. First book I have read by this author. Will try others. "
— Deborah, 1/21/2014" A great series of books. "
— John, 1/20/2014" This felt like a pretty good book that got dropped in the mud. The sometimes embarrassing (and often seemingly unnecessary) vulgarity to it got in the way. I'm not afraid of bad words, but it seemed over the top to the point where I might shy away from recommending the book to others. Turns out it's a pretty good story (really picks up in the second half) but I almost didn't get there. "
— Andrew, 1/16/2014" Way too vulgur/graphic. I only made it through the first chapter. I didn't think I was such a softie, but I really thought her descriptions were unnecessary and just gross. Her writing is a little too in-your-face for me. "
— Heather, 1/15/2014" This is another one of Slaughter's books that caused me to stare blankly out of the window for near two hours when I finally put it down. In a word: chilling. "

— Rebecca, 8/30/2012" In my opinion, Karin Slaughter comes into her own with the new Will Trent series. It introduces Will Trent who is my favourite Slaughter character. Clever, dark and just about everything you want from a read. "
— Christine, 8/9/2012" Great read! Couldn't put it down. Many twist and turns which make you feel like your right there watching it all unfold. "
— Donna, 7/9/2012" Good book. I knew the killer before it was reveiled in the book (about half or so through). Something missing though. It was a bit flat in parts. "
— Sierra, 6/10/2012" listened to this on tape... very entertaining. I love Will Trent! "
— Margaret, 5/13/2012" Wasn't sure I was goona like this book as I'd just read alot of ther Georgia series! But it was great, One minute it was like ok, then oh what? then oh no!!!! Highly recommedned! x x "

— Franzie, 3/12/2012" This is the first book in the Will Trent Series and loved it!!! The characters were so well written and found myself getting so involved with them. Half way through I was shocked by a revelation that the character John Shelley made. Never saw that coming. A must read. "
— Tina, 9/24/2011" Deze was echt schitterend!! Het heen en weer tussen het verleden en het nu verveelde niet, het maakte het juist nog spannender.... "
— Gwenny, 7/26/2011" Love this book. Trying not to give anything away here, but Ms. Slaughter turns this mystery on its head so you start out thinking one thing but end somewhere else. A fun, fast read. "
— Carrie, 6/15/2011" Karin Slaughter gives us a visceral image of crime in her novel Triptych. Her character Will Trent is very likable and has his weaknesses. I would highly recommend this novel for people with strong stomachs. "
— Roger, 5/12/2011" I read the Will Trent books because I like the character, even though in real life I doubt he'd hold the position he holds. But so what! It's fiction, and he makes it interesting. "
— Maryn, 5/10/2011" Once I began this book I was unable to put it down. The twists and turns in the plot forced me to stay awake reading into the night! The multiple personalities of the characters Angie = Robin, Ormewood = Woody = Pariah, kept me on my toes.

"
— Dina, 4/19/2011" Nicht schlecht, aber auch nicht überragend. Jedenfalls gut genug, um noch weitere Bücher von Karin Slaughter zu lesen. "
— Christian, 3/10/2011" A good read full of mystery and suspense. "
— Laurie, 3/2/2011" Another Damn good book. Since I read this one after I read (or rather listened too – both were audio books). Like the second book it was very enjoyable. I still think the protagonists angst over his dyslexia just a little too much, but there you go. "
— Ryan, 2/9/2011" First book I've read by Karin Slaughter. The story and characters were a bit gritty and raw but compelling enough for me to want to finish it. I may give one of her other novels a shot before I decide whether or not I like her style. "
— Kay, 1/31/2011" I liked the characters and the plot line. It definately took some interesting twists and I didn't even mind the back and forth timelines. "
— Jenn, 1/27/2011" Wasn't sure I was goona like this book as I'd just read alot of ther Georgia series! But it was great, One minute it was like ok, then oh what? then oh no!!!! Highly recommedned! x x "
— Caroline, 1/20/2011" This was a very good read. Here is another story of rape and murder, however, Karin Slaughter did a great job of twisting the plot with surprising characters. I like to think that I instill as much fear into my probationers as Martha Lamm did in John. :) "
— Taryn, 1/16/2011" My favorite Slaughter book so far!! Great characters. Months after reading it, I still wonder about the main character, John... "
— Carina, 1/9/2011" think this is one of her best "
