Publisher Description

About Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer

Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer (1836–1870) was a poet and author of the late Romantic period and is one of the first modern Spanish poets. He was born Gustavo Adolfo Domínguez Bastida in Seville and, like his father and brother (both painters) signed his works with the last name of his ancestors: Bécquer. Bécquer’s prose centers around the themes of love, death, and the world beyond and are characterized by their medieval settings, supernatural characters, and their dreamlike atmosphere.
