" This was a fun book to read on a cruise! The Wyeth illustrations are very interesting. "

" This book was pretty good. It was a good storyline but the literature was a bit old fashioned. I did like how they got to go to an island and look for treasure that a pirate had hid there. Some people who appreciate older literature might appreciate this book more than I did. "

" I read this book when I was younger, I enjoyed it. It's such a good one, but I only gave it three stars because it didn't intensely involved me. Maybe I was too young. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Halla | 2/10/2014

" The parent of all pirate books and movies. A must read for everybody who likes adventures. "

" I decided to read this because I never have and it's a classic, right? One of the last books I read referred to it (The Wednesday Wars) so I got curious and seeing as how I could get it free on my Kindle . . . why not? I enjoyed it and it was a pretty quick read. Never knew this was where Long John Silver came from! I can see how boys would love the story what with the whole buried treasure and pirate thing going on, although keeping up with all the shipping terminology could be a hindrance. I never have been able to get all those terms straight in my mind - but even in such ignorance boys will still love all the adventure and action. "

" I can see how people would like book, but it just wasn't for me. "

" Because I know the plot and deeper meaning of this canonical novel, I always thought I had read it. I decided to read it again before starting on Andrew Motion's "Silver" a sort of sequel to "Treasure Island." But when Jim begins to be attracted to and repelled by John Silver, I realized this was my first time reading it. It's a cracking yarn, but what is really absorbing about it, is the characterization, subtle and shifting, nobody is one-dimensional. Robert Louis Stephenson's pirate novel deserves its place in literature. "

" A fun historical sea romp, especially as an audiobook with all the "Shiver me timbers" and "arrgghh" piratey vocalizations performed to perfection by David Case. Now, on to "Silver," the recently-written followup that occurs 20 years following the original 1883 story. Heigh ho, mateys! "

" Had an audio version, and the kids didn't like the narrator's accent, so I ended up listening alone while driving. I found myself wanting to drive somewhere just so I could find out what would happen next. Loved it & so glad to have finally "read" this classic! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Grace | 4/12/2013

" I wish I had read this as a kid! I'll definitely enjoy reading it to my own in the future. However, it was very much a children's book for me, a wonderful story but not quite as swashbuckling as I would have liked. "

" It's a classic, and I did enjoy it. Some of the "sea talk" was a tad hard to understand and the vocabulary is a little antiquated. Other that that, it is a great adventure! "

" The grandfather of all pirate books. While this book has been adapted many times, it still is an enjoyable read and has everything you want in a good pirate story and is the originator of much of pirate lore. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Brian | 5/18/2011

" Better late than never I suppose. While searching the library bookshelf for Bram Stoker's Dracula, I came across this instead. Though it is meant to be enjoyed by those around age ten, I found it exciting from start to finish. I'll put it on my list of things to read to my kids at bedtime. "

Atau jangan2 saya keliru mengenali tokoh? :p "
