About the Narrators
Eileen Atkins has
played many leading roles in the theater, in both classical and contemporary
plays. She won the Evening Standard Award as Best Actress for her performance
in The Killing of Sister George. She
has also appeared on television and in film, including in The Cranford Chronicles, Waking
the Dead, David Copperfield, and Gosford Park.
Hugh Laurie is a prolific English actor, comedian, writer, musician, and director. He first became known as one half of the Fry and Laurie double act, along with his comedic partner Stephen Fry, whom he joined in the cast of Blackadder and Jeeves and Wooster for more than a decade. His eight-year performance as the protagonist Dr. Gregory House in House earned him two Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and six Emmy nominations.
Kiff VandenHeuvel, voice talent and audiobook narrator, is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is an alumni of the Second City comedy theater. He is an accomplished improviser and sketch comedy director, and he teaches voice-over, improv, and directing at Second City Hollywood. He has appeared in hundreds of television and radio commercials and is well known in the video game community as the voice of Zachary Hale Comstock in Bioshock: Infinite.

English actress. She has appeared in many films and televisions series, and is
best known for her starring role as Vera Brittain in the BBC’s television drama
Testament of Youth. She has also been a member of the Royal Shakespeare
Company twice and has played many title roles on stage. She was awarded the
Laurence Olivier Theater Award in 1983 for Actress of the Year in a Revival for
her role as Nora in “A Doll’s House.”

Nigel Davenport is an English stage, television, and film actor. He first appeared on

Since then he has performed in numerous film and television roles, including The Adventures of Robin Hood, A High Wind in Jamaica, Chariots of Fire, The Treasure Seekers, and many more. In addition to his success on
stage and screen, he is also an accomplished voice actor and has provided
narration for several audio books, such as A
Zoo in My Luggage, Tales from
Shakespeare, No Comebacks, and Beasts in My Belfry.
Alex Jennings is an award-winning narrator and actor of stage and screen. He has worked extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre. He is also known for his role as Edward VIII, the Duke of Windsor, in the Netflix series The Crown, along with his roles in The Queen, Lady in the Van, and The Wings of the Dove. He is a three-time Olivier Award winner and has been nominated for a BAFTA.

Prunella Scales, CBE,
is an English actress, best known for her role as Basil Fawlty’s long-suffering
wife in the British comedy Fawlty Towers
and for her award-nominated role as Elizabeth II in the British film A Question of Attribution.
Geoffrey Palmer is a prominent actor known for his roles in British sitcoms, including The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, Butterflies, and As Time Goes By. In 2004, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his longstanding services to acting and drama.
Samuel West’s theater work includes ENRON, Hamlet for the RSC, and starring opposite his father Timothy in A Number. His TV credits
include Cambridge Spies, Any Human Heart, Eternal Law, and Mr.
Selfridge, and he has narrated many TV documentaries. Among his films are Hyde Park on Hudson, Van Helsing, Iris, Persuasion, and Howards End. He has also directed ten
plays and two operas.
Michael Pennington is a British director and actor who has played many leading parts for the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, and his own English Shakespeare Company. He has appeared as Richard Strauss and Wilhelm Furtwangler in Ronald Harwood’s Collaboration and Taking Sides in the West End and performed two solo shows on Anton Chekhov and William Shakespeare. Although primarily a stage actor, Pennington has also appeared in film, most notably as Moff Jerjerrod in Return of the Jedi and as Michael Foot in The Iron Lady. He is also the author of Hamlet: A User’s Guide, A Midsummer Night’s Dream: A User’s Guide, and Are You There, Crocodile? Inventing Anton Chekhov.
