Publisher Description

After a surveillance mission in Sevastopol goes badly wrong, Stratton finds himself doing penance at MI16, the government's clandestine organisation that creates weapons equipment for Special Forces and the secret service. But Sevastopol has started something. In the North Sea a team of hijackers take over the giant Morpheus oil platform.

They are demanding two billion dollars. Inside twenty-four hours. Or the bodies will start falling. With the SBS overstretched and its surveillance team locked down, there is only one option: Stratton and a team of unproven operatives from MI16. Stratton knows he has to redeem himself and he also has his own agenda. One of the men on the rig is an old friend. And Stratton intends to save him.

But one of Stratton's team is not what they appear to be. A traitor. With a deadly agenda of their own. And Morpheus is just the beginning. This is the incendiary sixth thriller in the Stratton series by the UK's leading ex-SF professional.

"Easily my favorite Star Wars novel ever. Close to my favorite NOVEL ever. Matthew Stover, like Chris Avellone and the other writers at Obsidian Entertainment, is amazing at pulling on the loose threads in a setting and playing on your assumptions. The first half of the book reminds one of Conrad's Heart of Darkness, in that it is an extensive character study first and foremost, and a philosophical treatise on pain and suffering second. My only complaint with the book is that since I read it before any other expanded universe fiction, it set my standards far too high; nothing else in the New Jedi Order series is even close to this good."

" The new Jedi order completely outpaces anything in the Starwars genre. This series was Dark, exciting, fast paced, and inspired. The writing was fantastic and the level of philosophy and force history was unparalleled. If your a fan at any level of the Starwars Universe than this series is a must read. It is on my top 5 of all time for a series and I treasured every moment I spent in that time. But beware, this isn't your typical Starwars book, be ready for a level of intensity that you've never seen. May the force be with you.! "

" If Star by Star is the book that stands out the most as being a different kind of Star Wars story from the NJO arc, Traitor's a pretty close second. Part POW story and part philosophical ruminations, it's really helped by the narrow focus. This is kind of a companion novel to Dark Journey in the sense that Dark Journey is a Jaina story and this is the other twin's story and how he, too, is playing the Yuuzhan Vong avatar thing to his advantage. " I thought this book was great. It really developed Jacen's character and made Vergere even more interesting than before. I wasn't expecting it to not feature the rest of the universe but it nice break of pace from the intergalactic affairs of the NJO. "

" Finished very quickly. I enjoyed the deeper delve into the Yuuzhan Vong however i dont think I like where this new force perspective is going to take Jacen, my least favorite character anyway. "

" My favorite one of this series. Loved how it follows Jacen POV throughout most of the novel. Kind of reminded me of I, Jedi in that way. "

" This is my favorite Star Wars book. I stopped reading them after this one came out. On some very deep level, it taught me how much of our character growth comes out of pain. "

" This is probably my least favorite of the New Jedi Order books. I didn't particularly care for the writing style-it's an author new to the Star Wars Universe, and he kind of butchered the style. I also HATED that he killed Ganner Rhysode, one of my favorite characters. At least he got a good death. "

" The New Jedi Order is my favorite series in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. It is a long and epic story, with large ramifications for all the Expanded Universe characters. It will keep you busy for a while! "

" This is one of the best books of the New Jedi Order series. Traitor focuses on Jacen Solo's transformation. There's a lot of poetry and the ongoing debate concerning truths, the dark and light side of the force. But don't worry, there are some great action scenes in this book. "
