Adam Faramond, Earl of Rothbury, needs to find a wife -immediately! - or his beloved grandmother swears she'll leave him penniless. But Adam, an unrepentant rake, would only renounce a life of scandalous pleasure for one woman, the woman he's lusted after - and loved - for years. It's rather unfortunate, then, that Miss Charlotte Greene, a shy but beautiful blonde of impeccable manners and breeding, would never consent to be the blushing bride of a rogue...or so he thinks.

But Charlotte believes that the earl, the only man whose touch leaves her trembling with desire, would never want a woman like her. Weary of her wallflower ways, Charlotte decides a friendship with the earl just might give her the excitement she desires. Keeping their true feelings hidden, she and Adam plan a sham ceremony to placate the dowager. But when the marriage of convenience takes an unexpected turn, will Charlotte and her wicked earl finally reveal their irresistible, unforgettable love - and delight in a lifetime of passion?

" This is the first time I've read a historical romance where the Hero has been the one to have unrequited love for years for the heroine. I think the author could have emphasized the love more and made it even sweeter, but I loved this book all the same. "

" Olivia Parker may be new author but she's quite good. Her books are entertaining. Maybe not too historical since her jokes are more contemporary. But the humourous scenes are different than usual and more daring. :D This one is a book to love. And for once, the rake fell in love first with the wall flower not the opposite! "

" this is the first book that i read from Olivia parker. I like it very much ..romance and humour blends into one and I can't wait to read another one from her :) "

" Another cute, straight up, historical romance from Olivia Parker. This one started a little slow for me but I thought it really picked up in the second half. "

" Not as good as At the Bride Hunt Ball, but very entertaining nonetheless. "

" Loved how obtuse the Heroine was about how much the Hero wanted her. Adorable read. Lots of great scenes. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Judith | 10/22/2013

" A very fun book and good read -- should probably read the first in this eeried -- "The Bride Hunt Ball -- as this sets up this second book very nicely. Parker is a very good writer and lovers of historical romance will most definitely like this book. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Cecilia | 10/3/2013

" Light and sweet for the most part. I probably would have rated it higher, but many of the situations that were devised to put the protagonists together seemed forced, artificial, and implausible in the extreme. But it was a cute story. "

" I really liked this story. It was witty, charming, steamy, and I just love both the heroine and hero. Their dialogue was great and the chemistry they had was amazing. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Dancer | 7/17/2013

" This one doesn't have the "voice" and the sardonic humor found in At the Bride Hunt Ball, but it is still a good read. "

" I wanted to like this one more. And there were a lot of touches of really good writing. But the plot was thin and too artificial. I did like Adam and Charlotte, and I did like his jealousy, but his issues were just not well grounded enough for me. I won't be reading the third book. "
