What if...

Instead of disappearing from Elizabeth Bennet's life after she refused his offer of marriage, Mr. Darcy had stayed and tried to change her mind?

What if...

Lizzy, as she gets to know Darcy, finds him undeniably attractive and her impulses win out over her sense of propriety?

What if...

Madly in love and mutually on fire, their passion anticipates their wedding?

"This is one of my favorite books to pull out when I feel in need of a little Darcy/Elizabeth romance. Abigail Reynolds does an wonderful job bringing them to life, dragging the reader into Darcy's despair of ever winning Elizabeth's affections, and Elizabeth's denial that she will ever fall in love with Darcy. I love this story, though it took me a while to get back into the book at first. Recommended for those who love What If P&P stories."

" i am a connoisseur of variations of pride & prejudice and i wanted to like this book, but found it totally implausible and even an affront to jane austen and all her fans. "

" It was pretty interesting to see another way the story could have gone if Jane Austen was alive nowadays and was a romance writer. I would have preferred more tension between the characters or Abigail Reynolds to take more liberties on the story line and make their story more passionate emotionally. I felt that by trying to express just how deeply he felt for Elizabeth, she made him seem less intense, if you get my meaning. Sometimes less is more, and I think this is the case. I really enjoyed the steamy scenes, though. =P "

" This was really uneven, ranging from an enjoyable exploration of these characters to repetitive prurient fan fiction. The premise was promising: Darcy follows Elizabeth back to Hertfordshire to win her heart rather than licking his wounds after she rebuffs his proposal in Kent. The story explores another interesting angle as Darcy & Elizabeth give in to temptation before their wedding, just days before finding out about Lydia's disgrace with Wickham. Self-knowledge is a bitch. But it does provide an interesting contrast in character. "

" This book put me in a really cranky mood. At first I was so excited to read a Pride and Prejudice variation. The book was full of sexual tension between Elizabeth and Darcy. I stopped reading when they had sex while they're engaged but not married. That is just not what would have happened with these characters, I don't care how attracted they are to each other. It bugs me when authors try to do continuations of Austen but are so untrue to her voice and the time period. "

" The syrupy sweet love at the end of this book just about turned my stomach. It almost cancelled out how great the beginning was. Still pretty good for a P&P knockoff/variation. "
