" I normally don't choose or enjoy books where war is a principal theme.This book is well written and layered with rich descriptions. I especially enjoyed the "auntie" character. "

Another example of Joseph Boyden's easily readable writing style, again with characters that I really liked and cared about. He captures a culture (the northern Ontario Cree) that I have had very little exposure to and made me interested in their way of life. I loved it. "
