"I've watched the original movie so many times since childhood and I was really excited to finally pick up the book. There were many differences between book vs. movie. One major difference is that the movie made it seem like Oz was just a dream. In the book - Oz is real! Dorothy's house really did land in Oz and all of her adventures really did happen. The characters in Oz did not resemble her family members back home. The story was fantastic! The world building was awesome! I went to see the most recent movie "Oz the Great and Powerful" last week. I loved that they included many aspects of the book in that movie. The Oz that I pictured while reading the book is pretty much the Oz that was depicted in the movie. " I gave this book 3 stars mostly because of the redundancy of the writing. It reminded me of a simple Dr. Seuess book but with a longer and more twisted plot. It would have been more enjoyable if it were a lot shorter. With that said, I liked the book more than the movie only because it included so much more. I did LOVE the movie however.
