" Anne Fine has been writing books since I was a small kid and she is a remarkable writer. This story is sad, tragic and gripping. It is perfect for anyone to read and it gets my vote to be in the crossover genre. It's a real page turner and really makes one think about the upbringing of a child, the social conditions they live in and how it can affect their life and behaviour. This was inspired by the Jamie Bulger case and although the crime commited isn't as terrible it really makes you think. "

" It was quite a dark story and some of Tulip's behaviour and the things she did were just horrifying. Despite that though, i rather enjoyed this book and liked how it gave you things to think about, such as was Tulip the way she was because of her home life and her father? Or was it something else... "

" Not at all what I expected. Especially the end. Surprisingly really enjoyed it - picked it up on a whim as I liked the eye! Found it thought provoking and could sympathise with several of the characters in it. Made me think of my little girl and how I would handle it if she had a 'Tulip' "

" Keeping in mind that this is a young adult's book, I've given it four stars (I'd lean more towards three reading it without that in mind). I think I would have really liked it at the age of ten or twelve. Well written, interesting characters - it kept me turning the pages. "
