For generations, the descendants of the powerful telepath known as the Rowan have used their various talents to help mankind - some are telepaths, others can teleport through space, others are empathic healers. The clan has grown powerful. They have led Earth to ally itself with the alien Mrdini, and together the two races have held back the predatory Hivers, a deadly insectoid species that kills all life it finds.

Like all powerful families, the Rowan clan has also made enemies. There are those who say the treaties with the Mrdini gave away too much - especially, that the Mrdini get more than their fair share of new living space as habitable planets are discovered - that the Hivers should have been exterminated by now, and that far too much power is concentrated in one family.

The clan has two goals to keep the peace: to help the Mrdini control population growth, so that newly discovered planets are distributed more evenly, and to put a final halt to Hiver advances. They are confident of success - if they can survive sabotage and assassination attempts aimed at destroying all they have worked for. Download and start listening now!

    " Felt like a 200 hundred page ending. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jill | 2/4/2011

" Kind of getting tired of the sameness of the kids on the space flights and exploring the Hive worlds, but there are other interesting story developments. "

" Great series. She plunges you right into the world. It may take a chapter or two to adjust, but it's well worth it. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Janell | 5/4/2010

" This is the final book in the series that began with The Rowan. Enjoyable conclusion. "

" This is the final book based on "The Rowan." This series does not compel me the way some of her others do, but the characters and situations are interesting and believable. It was fun to see Rowan and Jeff as grand-parents, and I'm always a fan of the resolution to stories. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Rainheart | 9/16/2009

" this book was actually pretty boring compared to the rest of that series. there wasnt really any incredible cool parts. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Ariane | 7/2/2009

" To quick, descriptive and rushed in my opinion. Frankly I think McCaffrey should have just left it at Damia and not gone on this tangent. To many characters and stories to fallow like the previous two: Damia's Children, and Lyon's Pride. "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Lindsay | 4/26/2009

" I hated this conclusion to the Rowan series - I read it some time ago, but remember being bored to death with page after page of space-battle and precious little of the character interaction or relationships that I read the first few books for. Yuck. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Carrie | 1/22/2009

" SciFi/Fantasy. The last in the series (unfortunately) this follows Lyon's Pride. If you've enjoyed the series so far you'll enjoy this one. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Alison | 6/20/2008

" Last in the series. Not my favorite. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 CJ | 3/22/2008

" This is the only book that I've actually flung across the room. It was because of a scientific inaccuracy. You can't use gas chromatographs to identify unknowns! I actually wrote to her about it and got a very cordial response. "
