"I am still reading this book and will probably have to go back and read it again. I love the myth buster and testimonials. It really helped me get a grip on an actual budget (though I'm constantly having to tweak mine) and to actually build up an emergency fund. I recently had a major car expense of about $750 to repair a fuel pump issue. Normally when "Murphy" (as in Murphy's law) would come around I would freak out and call my parents for help. This time, I had an emergency fund and this time it was not as big a deal (less stress). A pain in the butt that I had broken down at the grocery store with cold foods melting but I didn't have to call my parents for financial assistance and I wasn't about to go without paying other bills because of this instance. It was FANTASTIC! I wish and pray that one day the public high schools will teach Financial planning to its students. Though learning how to bake bread and sew pillows has its importance, being able to manage your own money should be a top priority in our society. Thank you Dave Ramsey for a wonderfully insightful book!"

" I have recently finished this book and immediately began applying its principles where I can. While I have read a good amount of books on the "financial makeover" this book in particular just seemed so real and the principles just stuck with me. Dave Ramsey gives you advice that seems so obvious yet a majority of people have no clue how to apply any of them. He offers simple yet extremely satisfying tactics on how to free yourself from debt and become financially free, and I am very grateful I read this book. "

" Way too much of this book is spent selling this "makeover" and too little spent explaining what to do. And what is explained is not that original or helpful, in my mind, for those in most need of getting their financial affairs in order. There are a few helpful charts and figures though. "

" Dave Ramsey has a good philosophy of money - if you have it, you can spend it. If you don't have it, you probably shouldn't spend it. His rules for saving money are easy to understand, grounded in logic (and for those who are interested, Christian scriptures), and simple to follow. Notice, I did not say easy to follow because for many, major life spending habits are about to change. However, by following his plan, I have been let go from a job and I am not freaking out about it because I have a 3-6 months savings account that I can rely on while I work my tail off to get a new (and better) job. For anyone who is looking to make some financial changes in their life, I encourage you to read this book. It's engaging and smart. "
