Publisher Description

Three days into the maiden voyage that would end in disaster, a passenger is found dead inside a locked cabin — the victim of a murder. Jacques Futrelle, author of the popular "Thinking Machine" mysteries, is asked to use his knowledge of criminology to conduct a quiet investigation. Adding to the delicate nature of the inquiry is a suspect list that reads like a Who's Who of high society — and every single one of them has a motive for murder. Accompanied by his intrepid wife, May, Futrelle pursues leads all over the palatial ship in what would prove to be his greatest — and final — mystery. Once again, author Max Allan Collins creates an astonishing work of historical fiction in this vivid, enthralling account of the Titanic’s fateful passage.

"Historical fiction has been done before, but Collins does a very good job of blending a believable murder mystery with a tragic, historical setting."

" Another selection from my Titanic Phase which was an interesting read and a nice change from the other kinds of conspiracy theories. the Titanic is an excellent location for any kind of mystery as the author is set to a specific time line of known events, even in an alternate history. "

" For period historical fiction lovers and for Titanic-maniacs only. The premiss is interesting, the execution not quite as much. Very quick read. "

" Not so much a mystery - but a fun glimpse into the time period and the beautiful boat. I was expecting more subtlety from the author, not to be led right to the murderer and know it was them pages before the confession. But it was enjoyable. "

" Entertaining but a bit predictable. Interesting details about the ship, the class stratification, and the society of the times "
