NATIONAL BESTSELLER • In another feat of hypnotic storytelling, Anne Rice continues the extraordinary Vampire Chronicles that began with the now classic Interview with the Vampire and continued with The Vampire Lestat and The Queen of the Damned. Lestat speaks.  Vampire-hero, enchanter, seducer of mortals.  For centuries he has been a courted prince in the dark and flourishing universe of the living dead. Lestat is alone.  And suddenly all his vampire rationale--everything he has come to believe and feel safe with--is called into question. In his overwhelming need to destroy his doubts and his loneliness, Lestat embarks on the most dangerous enterprise he has undertaken in all the danger-haunted years of his long existence. The Tale of the Body Thief is told with the unique—and mesmerizing—passion, power, color, and invention that distinguish the novels of Anne Rice.

"I love all things Anne Rice. I am listening to her entire Vampire Chronicles in order. This is an engaging tale which gives the back story of David Talbot's conversion into a vampire. He also gains a new young body in the process. An interesting additional twist. It begins with Lestat being rash (as usual) and the romp that ensues is an interesting meditation of metaphysical possibilities. I enjoyed it a lot. My only regret is that I accidentally bought the abridged version, because I was new to the site. It tells the story just fine, but I love to listen to them for hours and hours. "

" You truly have to read all of Ms. Rice's novels. If you haven't already, start here with her vampires, then branch out! She knows paranormal like nobody else! "

" One of my least favourites in the Vampire Chronicles. While written beautifully and expertly by Rice as usual, the plot was not something that grabbed me. I like my Lestat dastardly and all vampire rock god. His character body-jumping felt somewhat like a step backwards from all he had been through in the previous three books...but that's just me! "

" This is one of the best books of the vampire chronicles. The only one better in my opinion is Memnoch the Devil. Find out what happens when Lestat makes a deal to trade bodies with a human. Sometimes a Vampire is just who you are... and sometimes a Vampire just wants his body back! "

" I liked it but not quite as much as the others. I think she got a little too wordy on descriptions at times and since I wasn't as engaged this time I found myself skimming. I think it's cause I missed all the old characters. "

" This was my favorite of the four original books of this vampire series. Anne Rice does an amazing job of planting you right into the story and making it seem "normal" that there's a vampire running around and a body thief who wants the vampire's body. This has got to be one of my all-time favorites! "
