" The main characters were fine ,but the secondary characters were much more entertaining. I loved the introduction of Diana in this book. The exchanges between Rothgar and Diana were what kept me up all night reading. "

" The supporting characters who show up halfway through the book are much more interesting than the main ones, alas. The main characters' story in the second half is a bit of a letdown. "

" One of my favorite romances for the sheer unconventionality of it. The heroine is plump, smart and bold and Malloren is a good match for her. Their banter and the troubles they find themselves in are quite amusing. Haven't read this in a long time but this makes me want to pick it up again. "

" Back to the Mallorens after I took a bit of break. This started strong but sort of ran out of steam as it went along. I still liked it but wished for more of a bang at the end. "

" Excellent! Each book in the "Malloren" series has such well-drawn characters! You can really see Brand's gentleness, humor, and honor, as well as watching Rosa bloom under his influence and love. It is wonderfully done. "

" There's really nothing wrong with this book and nothing that I didn't like. The writing was okay and the characters were average in development. There's was just nothing that jumped out at me to make me say "Wow, I love this book." This is just a good reading book. "

" I was all ready to give this book 5 stars at the 2/3 mark and then...the romance just kind of petered out and dwindled into a very long epilogue-ish thing. "

" In the vein of the other Malloren books, this one is unique in its story. Has some mystery in it as well. An enjoyable read. "
