" The lady who adopted Ben never told Ben that he was the long-lost prince. I think she didn't say this at first is because she wants Ben to understand the responsibilities that princes are suppose to have. She also probably doesn't want him to know is that he would get too excited. "

" From the gump to the island to the harpies to Odge in her cave, it's a very good book - to read aloud or to think about, nostalgically. "

" If you want to check out one of the authors that J.K. Rowling ripped off, Ibbottson is a great place to start. Raymond bears a striking resemblance to one Dudley Dursley (who was created several years later). "

" I read this book when I was very young and recently found it again in an old bookstore near my house. It was every bit as hilarious and engaging as I remember, the story is adorable and there's plenty to entertain. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Nicholas | 1/31/2014

" A clever and humorous fantasy story. Completely different from Harry Potter in a lot of ways, but with a few interesting similarities. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Leila | 1/27/2014

" One of my favorite books by Eva Ibbotson. She did such a good job with the plot and I loved the ending!! If you liked her other books, you HAVE to read this one. "

" I recently bought this book because I had read it as a child and it bothered me greatly that I could not remember what happened. I didn't really like it now, but that just might be because I'm too old for it. It had a charming sort of plot line that I'm sure I might have liked fourteen years ago, but not now. For young children only, I think. "

" It is a kind of childish books that I enjoy reading from time to time: especially after a long, boring one for school. Magic, lost prince and quick, simple, but interesting plot and I suddenly realized it was finished. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jenifer | 4/21/2013

" Excellent book to read out loud. My 11 yr old and 5 yr old loved it. Granted my 5 yr old fell asleep during the reading about 80% of the time. Still, it was a great book to read. Characters and story kept everyone entertained. "

" This was an okay book. I think I just need to take a break from juvenile books. I like to read them because they're usually clean and quick reads but I'm beginning to feel the lack of brain stimulation. :) "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Swankivy | 1/3/2013
