Publisher Description

A bomb in Rome, a flash of bluish-white light, and photojournalist Josh Ryder's world exploded. From that instant nothing would ever be the same.

As Josh recovers, his mind is increasingly invaded with thoughts that have the emotion, the intensity, the intimacy of memories. But they are not his memories. They are ancient... and violent. A battery of medical and psychological tests can't explain Josh's baffling symptoms. And the memories have an urgency he can't ignore, pulling him to save a woman named Sabina, and the treasures she is protecting.

But who is Sabina?

Desperate for answers, Josh turns to the world-renowned Phoenix Foundation, a research facility that scientifically documents cases of past life experiences. His findings there lead him to an archaeological dig and to Professor Gabriella Chase, who has discovered an ancient tomb - a tomb with a powerful secret that threatens to merge the past with the present. Here, the dead call out to the living, and murders of the past become murders of the present.

"I have to admit that after waiting to read this book for more that a year ( only because I couldn't find the book) this book has defiantly lived up to my expectations. I loved how the story plot was a romance, suspense, and historical all rolled into one. Not to mention the big shocker at the end, that left me thinking, "why". But overall I would have to say that this book was very original in my point of view and I would defiantly read it again."

" What happened to my never finished reading shelf? This is one that I COULD keep reading, but with all the other books waiting, why bother? Pretty cover though, right? "

" Overall a good book. Once you get going it is really hard to put down. The plot does tend to jump around a lot leaving something to be desired very frequently. The plot jumps are fascinating, but it seems as though there are too many in too short of a time period as if the author couldn't decide whether to write about one part or another. Would definitely recommend to others. "

" Didn't like this enough to read the rest of the series. Didn't like the narrator, which is probably part of the reason. "

" I wish I could give this book a rating for the first 400 pages of the book and another rating for the last 2 pages. the majority of the book was interesting and fast-paced and had an interesting overlay of characters. but at the end, nothing is resolved, there are a dozen loose ends and i felt completly unsatisfied. so i gave this book an average rating, since the ending totally ruined it for me, hardcore. " I would actually give this 3 and half stars, loved the concept but I think at times the chapters were too short and that they would end when I was just getting into it and move on to something completely different. A very interesting read. "

" An excellent start to a new series. I love the reincarnation angle; nothing new here, but still refreshing approach. A somewhat unsatisfying ending. Wonder if the next in the series answers some unanswered questions. "

" The plot is excellent, with excellent, believable details about vestal virgins in Rome in the 4th century. The writing is strong, although tips over into melodrama a bit too often. "

" This book is based on a fascinating premise, but was poorly written. The plot is predictable, but jumps around so much it loses its momentum. The characters aren't interesting. I was disappointed and won't be reading more. "

" Wants to be the next Da Vinci code and while it was interesting, it had one of the worst endings I've ever read in a novel. There's no resolution. It simply just ends. After the time and emotions invested in reading it, I expected a real ending. "

" This was the first MJ Rose book I'd ever read and I LOVED it. MJ has a wonderful way of weaving past with the present and taking the reader on a mysterious journey. Whether you believe in reincarnation or not, this book is intriguing and beautifully written. "

" This book needed much more editing. The story dragged along. A very weak man was tormented because he couldn't save women in several centuries. Not worth the time to read it. "

" I actually did not read much of this. The author just jumps right into the story without giving us any sense of the characters. I like a story that starts with action but very soon you have to pause and make us care for the character. "

" Great novel of fiction about characters who question their beliefs about life after death. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because of how the author introduces new characters in the beginning of a chapter and slowly informs us who they are in accordance with the plot. "
