"Wow... This book is completely amazing. It has to be my favorite book, and I just want to read it again and again! Some parts made me laugh and the others touched me. I loved all the lessons and concepts this book presented, and the journey of Peekay throughout the story captivated me and was amazing- a cool thought. the characters were also amazing, and I didn't see the ending coming, but I liked the middle of the book better. Still my new favorite book. I even liked the boxing part- I woudn't think that I would like this book, but the combination of everything was superb. Everyone has to read it. Now."

" Brilliant novel. One of the best novels I have ever read. Simply perfect. If this book doesn't inspire the hell out of you and bring a tear or two to your eyes; Guess what? Your dead!! Read this one and you won't be disappointed. "

" I'm not sure how I feel about this book; there were times when I really liked it and points where I really felt like I had to make an effort to keep reading it, and it was only the memory of having enjoyed it before that kept me going, but I have to say it was largely worth the effort to keep going. " I loved this book and actually loved the movie just as much. Great read, very inspiring. But I liked inspiring books where the person overcomes some sort of adversity and all ends well with lots of hope and fuzzy feelings for the future. This may not be the best for realists out there.... "

" I'd give it an extra half star if it was an option. It was good and kept me reading but didn't rock my world. I accidentally checked out the young reader's edition, so I wonder if I had the unabridged version if I would have liked it better. "

" Outstanding! This is the first of many of Bryce Courtenay's books that I have read and it will remain with me for a long, long time. Courtenay combines wit, humor, drama, suspense and intrigue with impeccable research. He should be better known in the US. I am a huge fan! "

" I loved this book. The beauty of it is that on one level it can be read as simply a story, albeit an exceptional one, but on another level it has thoughtful and powerful insights about the purpose of life, although not so many that they aren't supported and don't feel meaningful. "
