Publisher Description

Squire William Raven has only one goal: to finally receive his spurs and become a knight. When his lord, Sir Robert de Cantilou, returns from a five-year crusade in the Holy Land, William wants nothing more than to impress him.

After Sir Robert's return, noble guests arrive from France, bringing intrigue to the castle. William is oblivious to the politics, as he's distracted by nightly visits from a faceless lover, a man who pleasures him in the dark and then leaves, a man he soon discovers is none other than his master, Sir Robert.

But William can't ignore the scheming around him when he overhears a plot to murder Robert. He becomes intent on saving his lord and lover from those who would see him killed....

"Read as part of my QGB Q2 Challenge picked by Stacey Jo and also part of my May Category Challenge. This is the first book I have read by Alexsandr Voinov and I really enjoyed the story. Great historical feel. The characters were interesting and the romance quite unconventional but still hot. "

" I really loved this book! The period details are dead on. The m/m romance is wonderful. Great characters. "

" 3.5 really. Too short. That makes the story a bit simple. I happen to like long, complicated stories and this one was good but would have been better with more conflict. "

" It could have been better if the story telling wasn't as dry as an organic oil-free cracker. I have the audiobook, and must admit that the narrator did his part of making it worse by rather annoying narration. "

" For me, Robert was the star of this story. I would absolutely love to see a prequel that shows us his experiences during the Crusades. It's hinted at in this book, but the I think the full story would be great. "

" Nice story and I enjoyed reading it. I do think that some of it was pretty predictable but it didn't detract from the story. I couldn't decide between three and four stars but went with three because it did seem kind of familiar. "
