" I only read "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" which is about 30 pages. It was amazing. I bookmarked several places where the descriptions and language are just incredible!!! "

" And there is always a mishap with a woman to blame! I had forgotten that part! It was good to re-read this story that I read once upon a time- in high school. How is it I forgot all of the details and only remembered the witching hour ride over a bridge and the discovery of a pumpkinhead, a saddle and a lone horse at a farmers house???? "

" The only book I still read once a year. I wish it were 70k words longer. "
-

Tiffany | 2/7/2014
" Wanted to see if there was anything in the story that was left out of the Disney version. Nope, there wasn't. "
-

Raymond | 2/6/2014
" Awesome. I thought those kind of stories only existed in Europe. I'll be more careful when in Sleepy Hollow at night. "
-

Aaronni | 1/31/2014
" I enjoyed reading this book for my Study of Fiction class! If anything, this class (and book) have helped me tremendously when it comes to my own writing. "

" The Legend Of sleepy Hollow was good....but the rest? Snooze City! "
-

" This edition sounds wonderful. I remember enjoying these stories as a child. The picture of New England, the characters, but don't seem to have a great desire to re-read them as an adult. "
-

Mindy | 1/10/2014
" Just finished rereading the story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" in honor of the season :) It really shows Irving's talent for both humor and suspense "
-

Carol | 1/1/2014
" Always wanted to read this classic tale of Sleepy Hollow and Ichabod Crane and it didn't disappoint except that it is just too short. Loved it though. "
-

Krista | 12/23/2013
" The Hollow inspired wanting to read the Legend of Sleepy Hollow all over again and this is a great edition at a great price "
-

Kieran | 12/21/2013
" This was a middle-of-the-night-wide-awake-smartphone book or rather booklet. Not something to waste too much time on. "
-

Greg | 12/5/2013
" A little warning: this book looks as though it's not the whole of Irving's The Sketch Book. It is. They just changed the title on this version to sell it, since everyone knows "Sleepy Hollow." "
-

Golden | 10/16/2013
" One of my favorite books as a child. Still good when I re-read it as an adult. "
-

Sarah Ann | 8/16/2013
" my favorite story of all time. "
-

" Not what I was expecting having only seen the film ( I should know better!), but I really liked it. Good fun and a little silly, but fab! "
-

Nikki | 12/3/2012
" I had to read this for school and it was really confusing. The vocabulary was new to me because it was written in like the 1700s. If you do read it keep a dictionary close. Irving also explained things WAYY to much for me. The sentence seemed like run ons as well. "

" *The description above of this book (ISBN 0785788905) is inaccurate. This is the complete & unabridged classic by Washington Irving. There is no new material included and is was printed years earlier. "
-

Amanda Harford | 1/2/2012
" if you don't like 19th century writing it may not be ur cup of tea but most the stories have a subtle "spooky" factor. a very good read. a true classic. "
-

Kay | 11/16/2011
" This was a surprise to me. The pieces vary from straight journalism to more whimsical tales. "
-

Wendolyn Aragon | 9/25/2011
" Properly known as The Sketchbook of Geoffery Crayon, Gent., no one tells a story or paints a perfect picture of the American landscape in words like Old Knickerbocker himself. "
-

" I can't believe I have never read this (or seen a movie that does it justice, or payed attention to the real tale). I started off reading this thinking it was a ghost story or scary etc. It's just a fun little tale. If you think you really know the story, maybe read it again.
"

Kara | 4/21/2011
" I was a bit disappointed in the book. There was very little story to it. It was all setting up the book. The movie was much more detailed.
"
-

Julia | 4/19/2011
" A wonderful little vignette. Very rich and clever.
"
-

Christie | 4/17/2011
" I enjoyed this more than Rip Van Winkle. I definitely wasn't cheering for Ichabod though. Is that mean? At any rate, I see why this story has survived so long and with such popularity.
"
-

Tom | 4/17/2011
" Ok. a lot shorted than expected. The film seems to be loosely based on the idea of the story rather than the story itself. A good quick read though
"
-

Brian | 4/16/2011
" One of my favorite books.
"
-

Misty | 4/11/2011
" Really short yes I know, but I'm still in my Halloween reading mode, so sue me. Not much to say except that it will always be my favorite American short story / folk tale. Made me watch the Disney cartoon when I was done :)
"
-

Kajsa | 3/30/2011
" Whaaaaat? This story was more focused on the "love" part than the actual headless horseman. Colour me disappointed!
"
-

Carol | 3/26/2011
" A very quick and interesting read. I enjoyed it, and we've heard of the Headless Horseman all our lives. This is where he comes from. Great for Halloween, and could be a fun page turner for families during the season. Makes you want to carve your pumpkins. Enjoy!
"

Sean | 3/20/2011
" Not much of anything really happens.
"
-

Diana | 3/17/2011
" I read this the other day because it was short and sitting there on my Kindle! This story has always freaked me out!!! But it was nice to read it as an adult, absorb all the descriptive language and be impressed with how well Disney did with the cartoon! Check this one off the list.
