Publisher Description

For generations, Aurelia was the crowning glory of more than 3,000 acres of Iowa farmland and golden cornfields. The estate was a monument to matriarch Lavinia Hathaway's dream to elevate the family name - no matter what relative or stranger she had to destroy in the process. It was a desperation that wrought the downfall of the Hathaways and the once-prosperous farm.

Now the last inhabitant of the decaying home has died alone. None of the surviving members of the Hathaway family want anything to do with the farm, the land or the memories.

Especially Meredith Pincetti. Now living in New York City, Lavinia's youngest grandchild has tried to forget everything about her family and her past. But with the receipt of a pleading letter, Meredith is thrust into conflict with the legacy that destroyed her family's oncegreat name.

Back at Aurelia, Meredith must confront the rise and fall of the Hathaway family... and her own part in their mottled history.

" This one was a slower read for me. A little depressing and darker than I'd anticipated. "

" I did enjoy it but these people have the most crazy family ever and are all very destructive - thank goodness I have mine :0) "

" Anything with a back cover that says stuff like "she'd avoided remembering for 17 years" and "Why did I open that letter and let the devil in"......should have warned me, but I was fooled by promises of others that it was a good book........I didn't like the characters, I couldn't identify with any of them. The whole book alluded to something you guessed in the first 5 minutes and then spent the rest of the story in an almost groundhog way until a very unsatisfying finish. Have deffo read better. But don't let me put you off...you might just like it. Perhaps I'm a philistine.... "

" Great skype with author (thanks for winning the contest Amberly). I loved the book more efter talking with Nelle! Really helps put things in perspective. "

" Multi-generational family saga. It was definitely a page-turner, because althought the author hinted at certain events, it wasn't until the last 1/4 of the book that I actually knew for sure what had happened. Odd choice for the title though - I can't figure out the connection. "

" This is a a good story about a disfunctonal family. A dark tale about a golden farm family. "

" Davy has created a page turner! This book is a story about a family with a mystery. I love how Davy slowly showed the characters personalities. The characters are all very believable and I wanted to turn the page to find out more! "
