High above the Rocky Mountains, a routine airline flight becomes a midair standoff as 130 passengers listen to their captain relate the unprecedented demands of an unseen hijacker. Federal and state officials must hunt down, arrest, and indict the murderer of a young girl, and do it all in eight hours - or the airplane will be blown out of the sky.

With the airline in confusion, the media pursuing, and the hijacker forcing the aircraft into wild maneuvers as they head toward Salt Lake City, the FBI reluctantly fields its closest hostage negotiator, a rookie female agent and psychologist named Katherine Bronsky. " Fairly ordinary story of a hijacking, but oddly enough it held my interest. No. I dont feel like reading more by this author but if you're looking for an easy read to distract you whilst in hospital, or on board a plane, this could be it. "

" Admittedly, I'm a fan of Nances' work, and this one is no exception. I like his attention to detail, and his protagonist here is a real firecracker agent. The background child abuse story, while required for the narrative, is not for all tastes, though. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Debby | 11/12/2011

" This book was ok. Nothing spectacular or especially suspenseful. My major problem with the book comes from the fact that I am a prosecutor and know a thing or two about how the legal system works - and the system doesn't work as described in the book! "
