" This was as good, if not better, than the first. There were a few missed opportunities for action or for delving into more history of the different human races, but that is getting a little picky. Good read and I'm looking forward to the next one. "

" An enjoyable continuation of the series. Kept my attention, and I'm enjoying the maturation of the characters. "

" I like the fact that the book started where the first one left off. The characters got a little more depth to them and the story was non stop. Thankfully I just finished reading the firat book beacuse there was no prelude or coverage of it. There were not even any flash backs or in-story reminders of what happened in the first book. Very good book, cant wait for the third installment "

" I cannot say enough good things about Daniel Abraham. This book may have moved him up as my favorite author right now. I can see the series is getting more and more crazy with each book just like his previous series the Long Price Quartet. With each book being a year apart for release along with his writing of a space opera series, his urban fantasy series, and adapting A Song of Ice and Fire in graphic novel form Daniel Abraham is showing that he may be one of the most skilled fantasy writers today to keep up such production at such a high level. "

" I was ready to give this book five stars until it just... ended. I know it's part of a series, but it ended so suddenly. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Charlotte | 1/6/2014

" A worthy sequel. I am, as always, super sad I have to wait at least a year for the next one. I shouldn't start these fantasy series until all the books are out, but I never learn. I like the character Marcus Wester the best--Cithrin isn't connecting with me, even though I feel like she should. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Chris | 1/3/2014

" Ah what a great follow up to the dragons path! I loves this book and everything about it. The pickup from the end of the last novel was done nicely and I loved the plot of this book. A enjoyable read that leaves me wanting for te next one. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jim Graham | 12/26/2013

" The 2nd book in a cycle is always difficult: It must move the plot of the whole series along, but its own story is likely to drag. Here, the story is interesting enough - certainly, bloody enough - but we're spending a lot of time with some unlikeable characters. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Roy Rogers | 12/17/2013

" simply fantastic. much improved over the first volume. can't wait for the third. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 K | 11/28/2013

" Definitely better than the first. The characters are definitely breaking out into interesting personalities. There is a conflict building that is more complex than the first book. "

" I found this one a bit long and obvious. "

" another solid fantasy from Daniel Abraham. I have a few misgivings and hope the next book will explain some unforeseen turn of events "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Matt | 10/16/2013

" This series goes from strength to strength - excellent characters, interesting world building combined with a subtle mix of politics, finance and a hidden ancient threat. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Terry | 7/27/2013

" Epic fantasy at its best. A worthy successor to George R.R. Martin's A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Dina | 5/20/2013

" The first book in this series started off very promising, with an interesting premise. Unfortunately, Book 2 did not live up to its predecessor. I'm not sure if I will read the third. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Ben | 2/28/2013

" Better than "A Dragon's Path". Thoroughly enjoyable epic fantasy. I absolutely devoured this book. Really well done. There's Big Picture themes, interesting POV characters and creepy spidequeen priests. "
