Publisher Description

The #1 New York Times Bestseller, USA Today Book of the Year, now a major motion picture.   The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives.   “Nothing is more addicting than The Girl on the Train.”—Vanity Fair The Girl on the Train has more fun with unreliable narration than any chiller since Gone Girl. . . . [It] is liable to draw a large, bedazzled readership.”—The New York Times   “Marries movie noir with novelistic trickery. . . hang on tight. You'll be surprised by what horrors lurk around the bend.”—USA Today   “Like its train, the story blasts through the stagnation of these lives in suburban London and the reader cannot help but turn pages.”—The Boston Globe Gone Girl fans will devour this psychological thriller.”—People      EVERY DAY THE SAME Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost. UNTIL TODAY And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel goes to the police. But is she really as unreliable as they say? Soon she is deeply entangled not only in the investigation but in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?

"I was seeing "The Girl on the Train" everywhere and it got my interest, so I downloaded the book. At the same time a good friend of mine told me that he read the book and was disappointed. I generally like what he likes so I thought to myself, well, that was a waste of money. At first I had a hard-time following what was going on but then I got it. This was a fantastic read that got better and better when the author added in the missing pieces. I highly recommed this book."

" I purchased this book on a whim before I heard about the movie and while I wasn't a fan of the movie, the book was excellent. Paula Hawkins keeps the reader engaged and the mystery is hard to unravel. As an unreliable narrator, Rachel Wilson is sympathetic, while Anna is engaging. The third protagonist, Megan, is puzzling and hard to figure out. Overall the book is well worth a listen. "

" This is one of my most favorite audiobooks yet! Yes, you can take the time to read the novel yourself, but why do that when you can listen so much faster?! The suspense would build up so quickly that many times I was thankful I could listen instead of read, just because listening was faster. Great buy! "

" Rachael is a train wreck, oops, yes she rides the train everyday into town. This is a character that you have to identify with on some level if you've ever felt like life has crushed you in some way. I liked getting into the head of the person everyone is recoiling from because she's looking and acting so terribly. I enjoyed this book, it's a thriller, but also a commentary on how life's disappointments can affect you. "

" I found this book tiring- it constantly put me to sleep. The way it was written with name changes ,narrator changes, and time changes made it difficult to follow. Plus the coincidences add up to total disbelief - so many unbelievable people just happen to end up on the same block. Really! You can't skip and it is difficult to skim though it because of the way it is written. An important "clue" might be all that narrative to help you solve the thing. The only way to do this is to see the moving, if at all. "

" Fascinating story and it was my 1st ever audio book, which made the experience all that more enjoyable. I'm going to go see the movie this week with my wife and I'm hoping it's as good as the book. The story kept u interested til the end and I don't think anyone would have guessed the outcome. The twists and turns along with the ins / outs of the characters, made the story gripping. "

" I loved the story! It was very engaging right to the end. It had good twists and made you react to various situations by the descriptions - you could almost feel like you were in the character's shoes. I really enjoyed the narration too. First of all, it was in British/English. Being American myself, I love accents. It made it that much more entertaining for me. Also, the different voices for the different characters was a great addition! "
