" Seems to be the usual subject matter for the non-Poirot and non-Miss Marple mysteries. "

" Oh, Victoria Jones is great fun and all, and the mystery is enjoyably twisty-turny, but the plot itself is unbearable. British imperialists sitting arond Iraq moralizing about other countries' wars is pretty sickening. Rather like setting a novel about religious tolerance in pre-19th century Spain. "

" seemed very crap except for our female protagonist, Victoria Jones. boring at first but stick with it an admirable conclusion. "

" They Came To Baghdad is deceiving, adventurous, sly and fun. Agatha managed to seam all of this positive and negative elements in one book. Victoria Jones was a silly adventurous girl, who will definitely stop at nothing to achieve her goals. She lied innocently and people believed her in no time. So when Edward became her life goal, she went as far as Baghdad to get him and claimed him for hers. Unfortunately, the world syndicate collided with her, and Baghdad became chaos with mysterious sudden deaths and disappearanced of few important persons. It was up to Victoria then, to unravel all mysteries privy to her knowledge. On a positive notes, she managed to avoid being killed and as a bonus got her other half, except that the other half was not as she first expected him to be. "

" I read this as an audiobook and absolutely loved it. So enjoyed the descriptions of Baghdad during the period, everything felt bright, colourful and with a smidgen of dust. Victoria is a hero! "

" This is surprisingly a spy book by Agatha Cristhie and so it fails to live up to the usual expectations of an Agatha thriller. She is so good when she is solving murders in rural england - but an international spy thriller - nah!! "

" I love this book. I like Agatha Christie anyway, but this book is my favorite of hers. It isn't a whodunit in the traditional sense, more of a spy thriller. Mostly it's cute with an entertaining heroine who goes from the frying pan to the fire from start to finish. Love it! "

" Although Christie is never a bad read, the conclusion seemed a bit obvious once it was arrived at. The journey there, however, was a delight. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Kristen | 11/27/2012

" This book is really just a lot of fun. It's got a plucky shorthand typist in search of adventure, communists bent on world domination, a sultry Middle Eastern setting, and Christie's trademark world-class plotting. "

" This was worth reading, but much more predictable and contrived than her others. Many of the circumstances just seemed too convenient, or the characters too unbelievable. And it was lacking Christie's usual extraordinaty twist at the end. However, it was definitely enjoyable and kept me interested. "

" A bit different than other AC mysteries --female protagonist, and multiple 'if this were a book' comments by characters. A fun read and a nice mystery. "
