" I like the shannara books, even though Terry Brooks seems to write by the rule of thumb of why say something in a paragraph when three pages will due! They are definitely a rip off of the Lord of the Rings but I still like em. "

" Yup, read this series as well. "

" Probably the Shannara book I liked best so far. It was nice to see the characters from the first book in this mini-series continue in the next - it definitely made the story more interesting as I had more invested in the characters. "

" Ok. This is a book about a bunch of people wandering around for hundreds of pages looking for a secret passage into the villain's lair. That is basically the whole thing. They wnader around for hundreds of pages. NOTHING HAPPENS! And then, when it finally seems like things ware about to get interesting, the cool assassin meets a lame fate. All in all, a snorefest. "

" I love Terry Brooks for scifi writing. He's got a great grasp of language and is a vivid writer. I also found my favorite quote (for the moment) from here. I'll write it down...when I remember to. :P "

" This is a more grim storytelling, and the book jacket plays that up. There is no question that Brooks thought this novel through far ahead of others, and it seems (glaringly obvious) that other works are mere bridges. This novel could stand alone, without additional context, and it tells well. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Danail Yovev | 12/19/2013

" Walker Boh is my favorite character in the Shannara series. Awesome mix of everything. "

" Shady Vale is the perfect starting point for the beginning of adventure. The Ohmsford's and the druids are our last line of defense against a plot to destroy the world. I love the way Brooks blends fantasy and modern sci-fi into his environments. This is a great series. "

" Book 2 picks up the pace with the tale of Walker Boh's quest to restore Paranor and the druids to the Four Lands. Brooks' characterization of Walker Boh is very strong and he comes across as a very complex character that the reader looks forward to meeting again in future volumes. "
