" This is one of my all time favourite books; it's such a favourite I struggle to put into words why I love this tale of the characters battling against evil plants, but hey - who couldn't love a book where the only safe place to live is the Isle of Wight? "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Kristy Ot | 1/23/2014

" This was fun! And actually fairly tense, for a zombie-apocalypse-survival novel where the "zombies" are just plants. "

" I don't know why I think this book .... but I enjoy it more every time I read it. It gets me thinking about how I would cope if I survived such an catastrophic event. It's about how strong and how weak we are; it's about how fragile everything is. It's an easy ready but this book gets me thinking. A "

" John should have made this book about 5 times longer; I never wanted to put it down. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Mark Seggie | 1/4/2014

" Wyndham's ability to transport to a post-apocalyptic setting, convince one of the dangers of mutant foliage, and generally scare the bejesus out of one's mind was why I failed to sleep or eat when I read this book. One of my first Sci-Fi novels and a treasure. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Facundo Peláez | 12/27/2013

" One of the best science-fiction novels I've ever read. It's got the one thing that makes these kind of novels worthwhile: it's plausible. It's also amazingly catchy, gets the most out of the language and depicts human nature very accurately. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Jules | 12/18/2013

" Fourth time I've read it and I'll be back again. My favourite post-apocalyptic novel, bar none! "

" Good fall of civilization classic sci-fi novel. The ending is rushed, but most of the book (though short) has great plot development and a few interesting characters. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Emmeline Pidgen | 10/25/2013

" This is one of those wonderful books that I keep going back to. In many ways it seems a bit dated now, but in its concept it is not. Great televisation of it done in the 1970s/early 80s, but the recent one was garbage, so don't wst your time watching it. Read the book, it is far, far better. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Annie | 6/7/2013

" This book is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! When I picked it up I could NOT put it down! It makes you think about realistic events that could come to pass. Wyndham has written it superbly and I thought it was a real thought-provoking book. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Lorin | 1/28/2013
