Kids of all ages are always asking Joe Hayes, How can it snow tortillas? Well, now they'll know where to find the answer. Readers of all ages will delight in these magical tales. In the title story, for instance, a very clever woman saves her silly husband from a band of robbers. She makes the old man believe it snowed tortillas during the night!

In another story, a young boy gladly gives up all of his wages for good advice. His parents think he is a fool, but the good advice leads to wealth and a royal marriage. The enchantment continues in story after story: a clever thief tricks a king for his kingdom and a prince finds his beloved in a houseful of wicked stepsisters. And of course, we listen again to the ancient tale of the weeping woman, La Llorona, who still searches for her drowned children along the riverbanks.

" My two girls love this cd it brings back the old world stories my parents and myself grew up with. Also, intertwining Spanish/English is a Big Plus. Please let me know when you release on CD audible I want to buy by granddaughters a treasure like this. It allows them to be proud of their Heritage and share with their school mates as well. Thank you. "

" This was a quick read, but that's about it. I felt like the stories were poorly written and cheesy. But maybe it sounds better in Spanish? It was OK, but I won't ever pick it up again. There's not really anything to warn against since they are short stories that aren't edgy at all. Just OK. "

" This is definitely not a book I'd recommend for its substance. It's probably the shortest book I've read since elementary school, but it was cute. Good for light reading and a bit of a laugh! "

" Uses a nice integration of both Spanish and English by telling stories in both languages. It intertwines both languages in a creative way. Tells folktales and stories. I would use this as a read aloud and during a folktales unit. "

" I liked this book a lot. There were a few folk tales I heard as a kid that were similar to these. It is interesting how the author gives credit to the Aarne-Thompson index at the end. An interesting book, but it goes far to quickly. "

" I love bilingual books like this because it's a great chance to practice reading at a basic level in a foreign language without having to look up words constantly and trying to make sense of phrases that don't translate directly. On top of that so far the stories are really cute and entertaining. "

" This is a fun little collection of folk tales from New Mexico. Some I'd never heard, but some are obvious variations of Grimm tales, but with cool cultural differences. Quick, fun read. "

" The title sounds weird, but the book isn't! "The Day It Snowed Totillas" is a great book for readers young and old. It is filled with funny folktales that teach great lessons. "
