" I loved it!!! It was very thrilling. Spooky for me (my own preference), and it just makes you feel like your right there (with a hint of imagination). I'm hugging this book in my arms right now, literaly. I'm gonna get out there and get the sequel now! "

" Imagine that Brother Cadfael had an orphaned apprentice boy who found a hobgoblin wounded in a trap in the woods. They nurse it back to health while a mysterious, leprous, stanger shows up at the abbey. That's this book. I wish the hobgoblin's character was a little more fleshed out.... "

" Unique and never boring worth a good read and excited to read the next sequel "

" William has The Sight, but only finds out once he encounters strange creatures like the hob and other fay beings. He is an orphan, working as a servant in Crowfield Abbey, an impoverished, cold place hiding old secrets, including an angel. I enjoyed the pace and writing style of this book, and look forward to the sequel. In our library, it is categorized as Teen, but I think younger readers would enjoy this as well and, for their parents, there is nothing 'teen' about it. "

" couldn't really get it to it. Read about 3/4 of it. "

" I thought the concept was good and different. I'm really surprised that it's in the young kids section, because some things were killed and were described quite well, which I think some kids may find a little gross (but it wasn't so descriptive that it's PG-13 like LOTR). I have to say I've never loved stories that have the setting of the Dark Ages, but this one was decent. It's a good book, but I wouldn't say that I love it. "

" I will be interested to see where this goes--sort of a cross between Delaney's Last Apprentice series and Cadfael. I know of plenty of books with demons or fairies but can't think of another that also might feature.... Can I have a hob? "

" I thought this was a great read - I particularly liked the hob, who reminded me of my cat. Liked the use of folklore, which is often not the case as I think many authors don't have a good feel for the rules of traditional narrative. "

" I gave this 3 stars because I know it set in old times but at the start it seemed to go on and on about pointless information about the monastery other than that I really enjoyed the story but there were times when I had to put it down because this useless information was boring me to death "

" An immortal leper, a buried angel, a hob, a curse, and a haunted wood--how much trouble can a boy get into with that? Loads. A fun mix of Fay and Christian dogma make this adventure/mystery into quite a little page turner. It's a clean & fun read for everyone. "

" The characters and setting were very unique to me. That is what stuck with me after I finished. The story moved slowly but the intrigue of the characters will hold until the finish. "

" What an amazing book! The inclusion of fay and angel elements added a dimension to the story without detracting from the from the overall plot. The characters were well developed, the plot excellent. It reminded me a little of Steve Augarde's Celendine. "
