For Manannán mac Lir, a musician and Celtic demigod, life had become a blur of post-gig parties, expensive whisky, and cheap sex. And then the baby almost died - a baby he had sworn to protect. On the hunt for the would-be killer, Mac finds Artemis Black, a stunningly dangerous woman who's inexplicably able to intertwine life magic with death magic. For the safety of his people, he should destroy her. But the aching vulnerability in her eyes calls to him. And the raw desire she inspires has nothing to do with a spell. Their love may be forbidden, but Mac and Artemis can't go back once they've made... The Crossing.

" Life and Death Magic, add in an immortal, and you end up with a good book. Needless to say "to Hell and back" will definately keep you interested. "

" As much as I have loved this series and was excited to hear Mac's story, this really didn't live up to my expectations. I had to fight with myself to keep reading it, because I just felt that Mac deserved someone better than Artemis. Given how interesting her magical talents are, I would have thought that the story would be better than what it was. It also wasn't very romantic for it being a paranormal romance. I can't figure out why Mac even thought he loved her. They seemed to only have sex if they wanted life essence and not because they liked each other. Not to mention the incongruities from the previous book with Tain, when it comes to life essence being taken. Tain gives freely to Samantha all the time, and never seemed to be affected by the death invading him like Mac was. Overall, I guess I just expected this to be better but it won't stop me from finishing the series. "

" I enjoyed this book, no matter how much I wanted to smack Artemis. I'll definitely be picking up more of this series. "

" Not a bad book, I really did like Mac but it seemed like too much action and not enough connection between the two characters. it was an ok read I'm not sure I would pick up another of her books. "
