Publisher Description

Marion Zimmer Bradley was a popular author of fantasy science fiction from the 1950's to the late 1990's. In 2000, she was posthumously awarded the World Fantasy Award for lifetime achievement.

In The Colors of Space, young Bart Steele, Space Academy graduate, is waiting in a spaceport for a ship to take him home when something happens that suddenly thrusts him into the center of a quest for the secret of interstellar travel. The method of faster than light travel, called warp drive in later Sci-Fi stories, is a tightly kept secret of an alien race known as the Lhari. Some humans feel that they should not have to depend on the Lhari to get to far away planets and enlist Bart to help them wrest the secret from the Lhari by undertaking a perilous mission. Bart's survival and the freedom of the human race suddenly depend on his courage and wits.

"I rather enjoyed this book. I downloaded an audio version of it and listened to it today. It has something of a YA feel to it, but I still liked it. There was an "innocence" to it on a level not found in many novels today. "

" a really good read, short and sweet, but still held a lot of profound wisdom regarding the spirit of man, and humanoid's alike! "

" an easy summer read just for the fun of it. bradley has a very good story telling style. and the colors of space remains intriguing for me. the 8th color. hmmm. :-) "

" Entertaining. Straight up sci-fi adventure. Like Indiana Jones, in space... no wait that's just star wars... But yeah, it was a tad shallow in dialogue and occasionally conflicts kinda resolved themselves way too easily. I enjoyed it however, since it allowed my imagination to go wild. "

" A pretty little story (but not too short, even though it is short) about eventual understanding between races. It's not too much science, just sufficient to get the story going. Very nice ending with an open source-twist :) "

" This was fun but a bit simplistic in both language and plot. It's more young adult in style than I expected. However, it is still enjoyable. "
