I hope you will recognize and experience the link between your particular crosses and Christ's Passion, says Norbertine Father Alfred McBride in the Introduction, and see the purpose Jesus had in living and dying among us. There is no love without sacrifice.
When we pray the Stations of the Cross, one of the Church's most familiar and beloved devotions, we witness Jesus' immense suffering and become much closer to him in his Passion. The Challenge of the Cross follows the traditional 14 stations and includes the 15th station on the Resurrection. Each station includes an opening prayer, a scriptural reflection, a prayer to meet the challenge of the cross, and a closing prayer. Tthe traditional hymn Stabat Mater Dolorosa is dispersed throughout the prayer experience.
