"I had read this book multiple times before there was ever a movie. Besides the cloak and dagger setting, the one-man-against-the-world story, and story of self-discovery, this book is SMART. The author thinks geometrically, as Jason Bourne likes to say. The story is seamless, with no inconsistencies. It is an awesome story that author makes believable. Some awesome stories don't hold water when examined any closer than a good distance. But I find it thrilling when Ludlum can make the story truly possible and at the same time truly incredible. I've since read nearly all of Ludlum's stuff, and he has some good ones, but this and the Bourne Supremacy are probably his masterpieces (The Bourne Ultimatum reaches and fails in my opinion)."

" Maybe because it was the first one I read ( 20 years ago) and the fact that I could not put it down, but this is my all time favorite Robert Ludlum book. "

" The movie and book has a common thing: a spy known as Jason Bourne from Treadstone who has lost his memory... That is all. I wondered how can a movie be so different from book and yet the book says "now a major movie". The book was heavy, writing obscure and twists not that surprising, still it has something that binds you, provokes you to complete it and finally leave you wiyh a thought: should I go for book number two or not. As a matter of fact, right now I have had enough of Jason Bourne aand I am currently sick of the repetitive line "Delta is for Cain and Cain is for Charlie", yes Mr Ludlum I got that. But the book was okay and since I was able to finish it so I liked it. "

" Got through a few chapters. There way too many books in the world to slug through this tripe, I mean trope. Boring, poorly written and characters that would go up in smoke at a spark struck in a different hemisphere. Maybe the movies ruined it. Wait, no, this book was just lame. "

" The book "The Bourne Identity" is a really good book has lots of action if you are a fan of action this a good book. Its a very long book and you should read all the book befor this book so you understand what is going on.The mian idea of this book is that he is hunting some body but gets hurt and the person he was hunting down is hunting him down and that is really the main idea. But it is a very good book.
